It actually is a really useful service. My uncle's funeral was in a church where they stream the church services and it was great for people who couldn't make it to the funeral whether because they were too sick or were on the other side of the planet.

Yesterday the UK jumped from 52 to 85 (33). Today 85 to 115 (30). Less than yesterday, hope that's a good sign.

Most countries seem to report early in the day but we tend to find out around 8.30pm..wonder is there a reason for this. We'll be more relaxed at the end of the day?!

No it's because big business told Leo to do that so workers won't be slacking off mid afternoon checking the news.

Or all these HSE pen pushers do it late just so they can claim more overtime on the gravy train.

Oh I agree, the service is great, I've used it before too, I wasn't knocking it, it's the headline that grabbed me.

The number of ICU beds available is totally dependent on having sufficient specialist nurses and medical staff to attend to them.

These specialists do not drop out of the sky at the drop of a hat.

Unlike the 'normal' ICU beds, the beds must be in an isolation unit because this is a very infectious disease. One of the reasons the Chinese built a hospital in 2 weeks.

If any of the specialist nursing and medical staff must self isolate... the problem is compounded.

Difficult times ahead.

Most people are at home at that time.

The cases are going to up eventually, might be none today or the next day but as time goes on it's inevitable we are going to get what the rest are experiencing.

25 of those cases in the UK were in London. Hopefully all with travel history otherwise....

*edit* 8 of them have no travel history. Person to person spread.

If percentage wise we surpass the UK it would be a poor show.

Ok the UK are 113/67 million i.e. 0.0000016% confirmed infected

Republic of Ireland: 6/4.9 million 0.0000012% confirmed infected

Nothing in it BUT our numbers for today are not confirmed whereas the UK's are.

I don't understand how people are saying that normal flu is worse. There's a vaccine for that. I only ever got the flu once and that was 8-9 years ago. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to come down with it again anytime soon, I do have a healthy enough immune system. I read something that 70% of the world's population will have this Corona virus. That is quite alot and almost guaranteed to catch it at some point unless I become a hermit.
