I see the green areas by the Curragower pub have become a pub people drinking takeaway pints there the last 2 days...while it all seemed in good spirits not nice to be around either when enjoying a public space
Saw people walking with kids having to go through the areas with people driniking pints

Drinking in public areas is normal in every civilised country in Europe and children from these countries tend to have a much healthier attitude to drink.

They’re drinking pints not shooting up heroin.

I agree, and prefer to drink outdoors rather than sitting in a pub, but passed the other day and you had three lads all huddled up to keep warm like teenagers out bush dribking just for a pint. If you're that desperate for a pint then you've got a problem and need a hobby.

Maybe they are sommeliers and this is their hobby

I’m not a Covid denier but closing the pubs at this time of year with no alternative option isn’t the solution. They should have left it at 15 outside at the very minimum. November has always been a miserable month, we don’t need to make it worse.

So if i want to enjoy a public green sapce and families and kids...we have to accept gangs of people drinking pints to enjoy a public space?Be nice if the Curragower cleaned up all the plastoc pint glasses in area..seeing as they go on about the river and views for the marketing

Were they acting in a violent way or causing any sort of damage. No they were just regular people having a drink peacefully like people do all the time. No different to walking near the Locke on a summers day.
Best warn you now don't ever go to London in the summer cause every park and green area will be packed with peaceful drinkers.
I bet kids don't even know what's going on and don't care it's just nosey Irish curtain twitchers that need to get in everyone's business.

Think there is a fair point being raised on who should be cleaning up the empty plastic pints though nobody wants to walk through rubbish with their kids

Or on their own to placate today's posters who got out of the wrong side of bed.

    Or even without kids.

Why are kids brought into everything to try illicit sympathy.

Taking that a step further, should fast food outlets be out cleaning the streets, should the manufacturers/sales agents be out picking up disposable masks.etc.

People have to be accountable for their own actions, dropping litter is a despicable act. There's no excuse for it

Pubs shouldn't be responsible for the litter but if lockdown is how it's gonna be for a while now maybe pubs should invest in growlers (sorry I hate the term too) like Mother Mac's have that are reusable and returned for a deposit rather than single use plastics.

Edit: You don't want kids walking past seeing the earth being polluted

I only followed on what someone else highlighted not trying to illicit sympathy.

Fairly sure fast-food restaurants are liable for cleaning up outside

Don't think sommeliers are gonna be standing in Robert Byrne park in the cold and dark for a pint of Heineken :D

Nobody is taking this virus seriously in limerick people don’t care as you only have to check my Snapchat to see, everyone in each other houses drinking etc or travelling to different counties. :(

Oh I agree, and the Curraghgower has outdoor seating too I think, but then it's unfair to those that don't have outdoor seating. Similar to when gastro pubs could open and regular pubs couldn't which was ridiculous.

I agree with you but you can't say that in here.......

At least case numbers in Limerick are dropping and that's all that matters

Well if it were true and 'nobody' was taking it seriously, then it stands to reason that case numbers would not be rising rather than dropping.

In reality it is a post based on the tiny sample size of the people that poster follows on Snapchat and the vast majority are actually doing what there supposed to be doing.

It is very clear in the city lots of people are not taking it seriously and I didn't use the word nobody take that up with the original poster.

Door to door salespeople, offices not encouraging work from home etc case numbers don't always reflect what's happening

How far away from their premises are they responsible - across the public road and a few meters either side of the shop front?

Because that's where the park in question is in relation to the Curragower, also, the drinkers could well be taking pints from another local pub.

Legally the take away drink cannot be consumed within 100m of where it was purchased or in a public place.

And yet the number of new cases is dropping rapidly, before any of the level 5 restrictions have had a chance to have an effect.

We've been in L5 for 2 weeks. Of course they've had a chance to take effect...

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,912 ✭✭✭kilburn

Wouldnt say they are dropping rapidly.

Not getting into it with you again the thread is going down a rabbit hole please feel free to put me on the ignore or mute list as you follow me around threads contradicting everything I say no matter what the topic or forum.

I want this thread kept open for everyone else as it is valuable.

    Have a nice evening

NPHET have repeatedly said that any restrictions take two to three weeks before any effects are seen. We won't be at Level 5 for two weeks until Thursday. The current drop in numbers is down to the level 3+/level 4 restrictions. Numbers have been on the way down since the day before level 5 came into affect.

I just wanted to reply to the post about beds being short in the hospital. Unfortunately I have spent the last year and a bit in and out of the hospital due to what i see a number of factors.

Greedy surgeons who want to keep beds free for their own patients. Went in under emergency with a blocked bowel but they want me out of the bed once im not an emergency anymore even though my bowel is partially blocked and thia is the second time in with it. They want to send me to nenagh where my specialist is only to get taxis paid for by the tax payer back into to get scans. Makes loads of sense.

The structure is horrific. I've had bowel and throat issues and feel I'm being passed backwards and forwards. I don't even know what the real issue is. A general practioner to manage patients within the hospital system would be beneficial. Instead of being passed around.

Lazy or inexperienced senior surgeon (I'm unsure) ENT told me my tonsils were fine and only when forced to take them out by another specialist asking for a second opinion, I also coughed up part of my tonsil which helped my case was I told they would talke them out after which I was told they were extremely fibrous and took up half my mouth.

Doctors and surgeons passing the buck until you're a serious case. If the issue was dealt with day 1 maybe the in and outs could be 1 trip instead of 10.

Doctors not listening to patients - I told a gastro I was bleeding. No notice taken of this. It actually turned out I was badly anemic and needed transfusions.

On top of that inconsistencies - flyid in my lungs in one scan. None in the next. I'm following up all the time. 6 weeks for an emergency scan and then it's not even done right. Surely if my last scan said I'd fluids in my lungs they should be looked at. No reference to my lungs even though I flagged it with three nurse inserting the needle - he was also in the scan room. Maybe there's a lack of process and communication in there too. It's shocking. If I didn't read all my reports and follow up I would have gotten nothing done. Its really sad case of affairs.

Some wards are closed for the weekend.

I could go on and on and on about issues, inefficiencies, bad nurses, bad doctors in that hospital - UHL

The place needs a complete overhaul!!!!

Note - there are definitely good doctors and nurses too. It is a pity about the bad ones.
