It's actually a fact in Limerick. They opened a centre in Rathkeale to deal with this
Why is there a medical centre and extra Gardai assigned to Rathkeale at Christmas then?

Whatever. But we have actually had this thread shut down before when it descended into arguments about Covid rather than news updates and the like

Bigpink will be taking a two week holiday from this forum, as they had been asked previously to stop this type of talk. We have talked about this stuff before, and I can't believe we have to do it again. I won't have traveller bashing here. People have been advised by the government not to return home. Give them the benefit of the doubt that they will adhere to those regulations. If they don't, then we can all start tut tutting.

There's also been a few yellow cards for more of the same.

Pretend that the people you are talking about are people, and that you're not on a computer or phone, but that you're on six one news. If you're not going to say it there, you shouldn't say it here.

I'm reopening the thread. Read the title carefully, and then decide if your post is relevant. Standard forum rules apply. Previous warnings still stand. Basically, be civil, and discuss issues specific to Limerick.

    Numbers improving thankfully
Was worried we would be left behind in reopening
    Should be OK now

Was chatting to the lads at the Curragower yesterday and you can only buy pints there now if you have a car to take it away in.

Poor lady was standing at the door watching people drinking cans from Fine Wines in the very park he was told he was gonna get shut down over

The one across from the Gower? It's perfectly legal to buy cans in Fine Wines and drink them there, as it's more than 100m away - however the Gower isn't...

He has been told by the Gardai that people are not allowed drink his drinks anywhere on the 2 strands or even walk up the strand holding them

I assume a busy body reported them, as if life wasn't hard enough for local businesses to survive

First it was just stay off Clancy's strand but a few days later he had to get more strict. Clearly has enemies near by. Most pubs have one or two sour neighbours

The 14 day incidence is down to 195, 7-14 days ago the cases were in the 30s per day so if we keep this up we should see further modest decreases, if our numbers stay at (or drop below) these levels we should see a massive drop in our incidence on the 30th and 31st of November - 14 days from November 16th-17th which saw 84 and 44 new cases respectively

    12 today
We suddenly looking a lot better
    Well done Limerick

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,968 ✭✭✭Red Silurian

25 today, more than double yesterday's figure

25 today, more than double yesterday's figure

It's the incidence rate that needs to be looked at.
No point in taking 1 days figure in isolation or comparing it with any other single day
7day and 14day rates are a far more reliable indicator.

Isnt limericks 14 day rate still around 200 , one of the worst in the country.

Our 14 incidence rate yesterday was 188 and we're trending down.

Where we are in a league table is irrelevant. There's one day of 84 cases seriously skewing our stats and we'll be losing 3 days of 30+ cases over the next three days.

Over the last 7 days the incidence rate is 106.

A 14 day incidence rate is somewhat useful in tracking rising cases, but it doesn't give an accurate picture when cases are falling.

Sorry lads I am just so disappointed and so disillusioned with Limerick

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,041 Mod ✭✭✭✭Cookiemunster

This is all getting very depressing at this stage.
Gangs of scobes prowling Town, nothing being done about it and we top of covid table again.
Sorry but I hate this city at times.
Absolute scummers EVERYWHERE you go in groups and look at the state of our figures

See my above post. All that counts is our 14 day incidence rate, which is trending down. Any league table of covid (which we don't actually top anyway) is meaningless.

Today the 84 cases from two weeks ago disappears off the 14 day figures and Limericks rate will fall dramatically.
