What a childish response. There's not a hope in hell we've found every COVID case. Any positivity rate greater than 0.1% suggests we're missing cases.

Do you believe that every covid case in Ireland was diagnosed so far?

Not a hope they have, I'm sure there are many asymptomatic walking around, blissfully unaware.

I am proud of Cork, the largest county, well done us, hopefully we can all have a safe good Christmas with family

Am I the only one who really doesn't get this kind of narrative?

I mean, I'm glad that the numbers in Cork are low, its a good thing that the numbers are low in the place that I live. It would be a better thing if numbers were this low everywhere, no? But proud? I just don't understand this.
Should people in counties with high levels feel shame? Even those that haven't contracted the virus?

    This genuinely confuses me.

It's quite strange isn't it. Grouping an entire type of person together.

    Almost like blaming publicans.

I doubt it but live in hope :)

Think we are like second lowest in the country now - pro rats wise if you get me!

It's the parochial mindset, shur WE are doing better than THEM. Its very dangerous thinking... there should be no shame whatsoever in saying you got the virus. None.

    Narrative?:confused::confused:

How can we fly in the face of numbers?

Without taking any side here, of course you can argue about what the numbers mean. And the source of any number. And argue about extrapolations from any numbers.

We are doing good, I'd like to see everywhere doing good, it wasn't a dig at any other county or country

I, equally don't understand people who claim to be proud to be Irish.
I suspect you'd have me leave the Country!

Is it just Irish or any nationality?

I know some people will object to anything but positivity, but it's not exactly shocking that two weeks after making a change to something that has a response time of about two weeks we haven't seen a change yet. I hope it continues but let's not get less careful.

It takes on average 5 days for symptoms.... Even allowing 2 days for tests results thats a week of no cases..... but don’t let facts get in the way of your narrative

I don't think I've disputed any facts, I just said it's not surprising?

5 days for symptoms is way too simplistic, in reality there's a very wide bell curve. 2 days for results is at the low end, my own took over a week. There's also a delay in reporting results even if they have results. Cases were low to begin with which makes outbreaks less likely anyway, plus you're in statistical noise territory. It simply takes time for changes to take effect, it's too early to be drawing conclusions. Nothing wrong with encouraging people to be careful.

Where’s the upsurge in cases from all the on street drinking? Should have happened by now... oh that’s right because it had no effect. Just like the pubs won’t.
