Hearing theres an outbreak among staff in McDonalds in Mahon Point

Would have presumed they’d be closed. Is there anything open out there besides Tesco?
Enough takeaway business to justify staying open?

I assume Boots, Specsavers and Sam McCauley open there along with Tesco

That's retarded then imo. Should be closing that sh1t down. If someone wants a McDonald's, they can go to Douglas or Kinsale road for drive through

Nearly all the food places in Mahon are open for take away.
There's a few places open their and more are meant to be opening for Click and Collect in January.

    Hopefully they won't be allowed

Well the government will have to stop call and collect then.
They were shopping centers/retail parks and they looked like normal the last time around.
They allowed it last time and they must feel it's a safe thing to do.

“CUH has no additional ICU beds”

    Why is that I wonder?

Because the HSE and numerous Governments are grossly incompetent.

Cos the cases are out of control of course. Why do you think? Click and collect for non essential stuff should be one of the things to be pulled if there's any interest in getting this back under control.

Click and collect is probably one of the safest things you can do. Do you want the economy to just implode or what?

I disagree, especially when the food court is open so some people will take the piss and end up eating there.

Exercise, getting food, medication etc is essential. Someone collecting a new pair of jeans is not. Get the cases down and then they can reopen.

You can't sit in the food court...

You're asking for more restrictions less than a week into the new restrictions?

Hospitality has been closed since the 24th which is about a week and a half, and yes, it's best to increase restrictions as much as possible and get figures down lower faster imo. We've gone well past October numbers here so should be doing stricter lockdown than what we had back then.

    That's not how infection works.

    That's not how infection works.

Closing down as much avenues of it spreading seems pretty sensible to stop it spreading. Click and collect for non essential products is an avenue of it spreading. It might not be huge but it is an avenue, both for customers and the workers in those places.

On another note, 600+ in Limerick today, **** me.

It’s Rathkeale rather than the city. Rathkeale has a unique demographic.

On the covid app it’s showing as 660 per 100k there. For comparison, Cork City South East is at 450 per 100k.

Both might be a bit worse than that because the numbers are old now & backlog not included but you get the idea.

How are healthcare workers still getting this?

I know they can probably pick it up outside the hospital but surely not all of them?

It’s probably them being tired and possibly forgetting themselves in certain situations.
Now I’d 100% believe they caught it in the community too, some amount of fûcking idiots who can’t wear masks correctly or not sanitising either

    What shops are you frequenting?

I haven't seen someone without a mask in a shop for months.

There seems to be a lot of 'nobodys wearing masks' nonsense on here when its simply not true
