No. I have never seen any campaign for less outdoor space or less money to be spent on developing outdoor public amenities. Are there people who would advocate for that? If there are I've never seen a movement like that campaigning for worse facilities.

I think we are going to see a clear preference for outdoor socializing going forward as and when the weather allows.

Saw on the vaccine thread that Pairc Ui Chaoimh have started vaccinating the 40-44s.

Probably my post you saw, cant understand how i'm still waiting even though I share an Eircode with my wife.

    What age?

Just registered, 44, wondering how long others in the older groups had to wait to gauge my wait time

Online reg for 44 year olds opened today iirc.
Widely reported in the media, I'd be surprised if the actual vaccinations of the 44 year olds started today tbh.

My dad had to wait a few days to hear and a few days again to get it, my mom had to wait nearly 20 days to hear. Both in the same house, almost the same age and both got Pfizer in City Hall. Seems to be somewhat random

There's people in the vaccine thread who have appointments for this week. I didn't make it up

There could be any number of pieces of data used to determine order. It would be weird if Eircode was the main one, why would you choose that over age, order you registered, name alphabetical order, PPS number, address?

Yeah, I get that but, I registered 15 days ago and nothing, she register today and had an appointment in a few hours. Would love to know how they are scheduling.

"I'd be surprised if the actual vaccinations of the 44 year olds started today tbh" is what I said in response to what you said which was "Saw on the vaccine thread that Pairc Ui Chaoimh have started vaccinating the 40-44s"

You said they’ve started vaccinating them, which isn’t the case - some have gotten their appointments, how could they have started the vaccinations when the portal was only open this morning for the 44s??

Ok, I'll remember next time to ensure my wording is accurate so leahyl specifically can understand.

Cork is not among the top 4 highest incidence counties which is good news.
Limerick, Offaly, Donegal and Dublin listed as the top 4.
700 cases in Limerick in the last 14 days as I referred to in my previous posts. Next highest isn't even close, something like 300 in Donegal.

What is the full Donegal county population, at this rate everyone there must have had it or had it twice

I assume with no county breakdown no LEAs also?

No breakdowns no, they are just the details that the press briefing had today

Same has happened to me. I'm waiting 16 days and nada. She registered yesterday and got an appointment in PUC a few hours later. Obviously we live in the same house. So if it isn't age, or when you register or geography, what way are they allocating appointments in PUC?
From talking to others and from other boards threads, lots of 44s and 43s got appointments yesterday in PUC while there are still lots of 47, 46 and 45s in Cork waiting.

All the more reason to have more outdoor space available.

Port of Cork is not "public".
It never was a place for people to get pissed and arse around generally in and I dont blame the Port fencing it off and not act as minders for drunk people too stupid to find another venue for their pissery.
Just like the beaches every eegit is entitled to be there, no matter if it is already crowded.

And probably a liability issue for the Port of Cork in the event of any misshap or injury I'd have thought

I can understand the port because it’s a work area, whats annoying is that this backlash is happening on the back of Tony H tweeting instead of actual instances of cases increasing arising of there gatherings.

There is a lack of creative thinking on the councils part here, outdoor socialising should be encouraged, open up the parks and control them, put facilities in place. Make Washington street completely pedestrianised from 6-11 Friday and Saturday night and patrol it, police it, have limits on people and allow people to meet, same with Oliver plunkett street. Leave plenty of room and let encourage people to meet.

Shop street in Galway does this very effectively with security and barriers at the top and bottom during festivals.

Either that or you send people into their homes for parties.

We have never learned to live with this disease. It’s time we do.

Demand will outstrip the space............. what do you do with people queuing to get "in"? Police them so they all social distance etc etc? You'd fill carrigrohane straight with the people who'd want to go.

We don't need to learn to live with this, vaccination in the end game and that's close.

What happens if you don’t try and satisfy the demand in a safe manner?

Sell tickets to pay for the facilities and limit numbers.

Hey, have a vaccination appointment tomorrow at PUC (pity it wasn't city hall as it's far closer), I assume that's readily accessible on foot?

Was thinking I could walk along Kennedy Quay as far as the market but don't know if that's closed off now, and have to use Centre Park Rd; does anyone know? Thanks!

Who are you trying to satisfy?

All sensible ideas about minding and sectioning and guarding etc but who is going to pay for all that?

Dubs are indeed reacting to a backlash - so is the Port - media has driven that whether we like it or not.

Do people still stay outdoors for getting drunk even in the rain in the city?

Everyone should take personal responsibility and act accordingly but as always bellends will ruin it for everyone

Whatever your June weekend plans, enjoy and take care
