The final day nerves of whether the week will be break even, a loss or a win are hitting in, and I'm hedging my bets with two selections in a lot of races. Probably not the best way to go for preserving profit, but I was a few whiskeys deep doing my selections last night.

    13:30 - Goshen
14:10 - Ciel De Neige - (I wanted this EW but my free bets f**ked up my ability to edit it, let's go with the win here anyway.)
    14:10 - Moon Over Germany - EW
    14:50 - Cobbler's Way - EW
    14:50 - Sempo - EW
    15:30 - Al Boum Photo
    15:30 - Monalee - EW
    16:10 - Hazel Hill
    16:10 - Law of Gold - EW

Joseph O Brien could have a good day, he has a few with chances. Wave of the Sea & Us and Them in good order and should run well so worth a punt EW.
Sticking with Al Boum for the big one. Very big chance of retaining this and I think the light almost anonymous campaign, whilst works for the horse, has meant it has not captured the love of the public.

Decent week, will break even at worst which is always good

    1.30 A wave of the seas e/w
2.10 Saint Roi e/w, but seems to be money for JP's other horse now
    2.50 Fury Road e/w
    3.30 Delta Work e/w
    4.10 Striker Wallace e/w
    4.50 Chosen Mate e/w
    5.30 Escaria Ten e/w

broke even yesterday, not too bad. needed le breuil to place but he was nowhere

    todays picks

    1.30 sir psycho

very sweet on this fella, superb jumper and i think he will rattle these big guns .

    2.10 saint roi
    the geraghty factor here

    2.50 thyme hill
solid chance here in an open race

3.30 clan des obeaux and lostintranslation
both would be more confident picks if ground rode quick

    4.10 hazel hill
    to repeat last years romp

    4.50 chosen mate
purely because he was a charity bet at a preview night, and he was attracting support

    5.30 front view
frank berrys charity bet , jon joe riding, say no more.

    best of luck everyone !!

Aspire Tower in the opener. Was impressive in Christmas and took a tumble at the last at the DRF when on the way to winning.

    Thatsy e/w in the 2nd.

Sempo e/w in the 3rd for small money.

Clan Des Obeaux in the Cup.

Shantou Flyer in the Foxhunter (my favourite race of the week for an old fùck it bet).

Paloma Blue e/w in the next.

It’s a tough day for picking winners.

Decent week also, I'll break even if I get no winner today.

13.30: Goshen 3/1 - Biggest bet of the week
14.10: No Bet yet - Stuck between Saint Roi & Stolen Silver
    14.50: Fury Road 8/1
    15.30: Al Boum Photo 10/3
    16.10: Staker Wallace 7/1
    16.50: No Bet
    17.30: Pileon 8/1

    Best of luck all!

    And stay safe out there.

    Aspire Tower
    Delta Work
Hazel Hill my 3 big bets

Danny Mulins was very negative on Monkfish on the podcast
    Ruby against him too
Eddie very positive on Fury Road, Keith Donoghue also very strong on him
    With all that in mind.....
    Thyme Hill it is!

    Allmankind
    Aramon
    Ramsees De Telles
    Al Boum Photo, Lostintranslation

Nowt backed in the final 3 yet but don't think I can resist small stake on Don Poli in the foxhunters

Had a fairly barren week, no winners and I am having a few yankees and a few hail Mary's and a massive bet on Delta Work to win the Gold Cup. I also think at 22/1 PP ( 4 places ) you could do worse than have an ew squeak on Monalee. Unlucky to lose at Christmas ( jockey lost an iron on run in ) and if you take the fact that The Percy was an Aeroplane 2 years ago that RSA form looks better now than ever. 22/1 too big.

    2.10 Tiger Voice
2.50 Lieutenant Rocco, Ramses De Teille
    3.30 Delta Work, Monalee
4.10 Shantou Flyer , It Came to Pass
    4.50 Éclair De Beufeu
    5.30 Happygolucky , Everybreathyoutake

Tuesday and Wednesday had me in a hole. I knew it would be that kind of week when Elixir D'ainay brought down Captain Guinness as I had an interest in both who were travelling well at the time. Yesterday then I experienced the other side of it with Samcro winning. So it is swings and roundabouts. So yesterday was a great day backing 2 winners. Pressure is off now for today.

He got hammered by Allmankind previously, very hard to see that been turned around never mind factoring in the other ones he hasn't raced against.

well lads, i take it a each way yankee does not pay better prices in patrick powers ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 223 ✭✭dave81

I've no time to really study in depth today. The first looks like a cracking renewal - goshen, all mankind and solo. I'm so torn. I will decide when I see money. Solo really calling out to me.

Ill back clan des obeaux as my main fancy today. Sure he wasn't up to the standard last year but with the lighter compaign this year, I think he will be a different proposition if he gets into a rhythm. Nap.

    God luck

An absolute disgrace that this event is continuing.

I say this as someone who used to bet on horses especially on big races, I won't have anything to do with that industry again.

When this all blows over it will be remembered that the privileged toffs and their hangers on that stink out the horse racing industry didn't step up to the plate like the rest of us. In this country horse racing has benefited from massive subsidies via the tax payer. When the dust settles that funding should be cut completely and the sport should die.

If Cheltenham was held in Ireland, I could understand. It's held in a different country.

    Otherwise you're just talking nonsense.

Back to today, looking forward to 3.30.

I won money as it happened yesterday. I backed Bayer Leverkusen.

I won't be backing horses anymore, which ain't a bad thing at all as it turns out. Every cloud as they say.

When the foot and mouth crises happened Irish horses didn't go to Cheltenham as I recall, that was because that crises impacted them more directly. Nope, the horse racing industry as a whole including the Irish will take the flak for this.

You are talking nonsense if you think people will just forget it.
