My wife got a call from the local surgery less than an hour ago asking if she wanted the vaccine as they had a few left over. She was told to get there immediately so I drove her there and we're back at home again now. She gets the second dose on 23 May.

Before anyone asks she has underlying health issues :)

    Good to hear Muffler.

You didn't sneak your old arm out yourself!

I think my arm is almost worn off with the number of times I chanced it over the years ;)

I did tell her before she went in to mention that I was waiting outside in the car and if they had any spares Id take whatever they could give me but it wasnt to be. I'll have to wait for a call to Letterkenny hopefully within the next week or so.

Hopefully the situation improves. Donegal seems to be constantly high.

I registered my Aunt 68 last Friday and she still no word back. I'm seeing down the country people registering and getting appointments on the same day.

Is anyone else waiting to hear back?

Sorry, I meant the vaccination centre there. The signs are up but it seems empty.

I'm to get vaccinated there soon, think it's just weekends

Tests carried out at the walk in test centre in Letterkenny which opened on Saturday has returned one of the highest positivity rates in the country at 9.4%.

Pointless really, they will only go across the border to socialise, get their hair cut, go to mass, sit outside to eat and drink.

The queue of cars was out and onto the road at the test centre yesterday evening, hasnt been like that since the very peak of cases.

Local school has been very quiet on the extent of outbreak, wee bit more openess would be helpful

Got our own news report now:

Hopefully no additional measures taken for the county!

We don't have community leaders, there'd be people who like to be heard but being heard and being listened too are completely different things,

I think it could be looking more likely that harsher restrictions could be on the way to Donegal.
In fairness we have no excuse for the high infection levels we are seeing up here now compared to the rest of the country.
We are more rural than most and we cant blame the border any more with infection levels much lower there now.

There must be quite a lot of non compliance with restrictions up here, and its a bit of a kick in the teeth to those of us who have been following the restrictions all through this...

A special meeting to discuss the increase in Covid-19 cases in Donegal is to take place this evening.

Deputy Joe McHugh called for the meeting, due to take place at 6pm, between the Chief Medical Officer, Health Minister and all Oireachtas members from the county.

Joe should be safe enough, hasn't been seen up here since last July

I heard Padraig MacLochlainn on the radio saying he didnt like the CMO's tone. That wasn't quite the response I wanted from local politicians. Hopefully that meeting has ended with everyone on the same page.

Personally, I’m sick of people getting far too close in shops. On the plus side though, I’m booked in for my first COVID vaccine in the coming week. I think it’ll be the Pfizer one I’ll get which is fairly well tested by this stage. I can’t wait!

I know it's serious and people have died but it's hard not to feel a little pride in how we're up there with the big boys :)
