Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Fully expect the fixtures this w/e in the LOI to be the last until this blows over, cant see how competition can continue with the risk to players & officials, never mind the spectators. Pressure from leagues in other jurisdictions alone will be a huge factor if they start shutting up shop for the foreseeable.
Of a mixed mind as to whether or not to attend Fridays game in Tallaght myself assuming it goes ahead, & definitely wont be bringing the kids if I do.

International games wont be played because of travel restrictions.

PL should push forward some games if that happens. Get in as many games in March as possible.
Because there will be nothing played in April

The whole point is to contain the virus now rather than increase the number of games.

    Play them behind closed doors.

I still can't believe Wolves trip to Olympiakos is going ahead. Even behind closed doors they are playing a team who've only got the all clear when tested this week.
I think UEFA were hoping to make it to the International break, hope it slows down & then push on. But 2 games next week are 100% behind closed doors, Juve simply cannot play Lyon now after Rugani's news & City vs Real if it happens surely won't have fans from either side.
There is a standoff between Spanish & Italian sides so god knows what they do with the 2 Europa League ties as neither will probably be allowed in the others country.

The real money is TV rights not the fans at the stadiums, must carry on but behind closed doors

Have you listened too ANYTHING in this thread??

    Dave just answered this question
    Hundreds of people still needed for a match to go ahead behind closed doors;
Players, staff, groundsmen, TV crews, Medical personnel etc.

Can't be long until the league is suspended.

Soon as a PL Player gets it, The PFA will vote to strike as did Spain and Italy! There is no way these leagues finish.

Maybe listen to what I am saying.

Play behind closed doors 2-3 weeks or until total lockdown & play as many games as possible before a player gets it.

April-May things will be way worse . Might as well get some games played while it isnt widespread.

Why would they jeopardize players safety? We’re in the containment stage. ALL measures to contain it will be taken. The government and WHO/HSE etc couldn’t care less about a few games of football. There is no hope of football leagues finishing and if they cannot be finished they’ll be declared null and void. What part of this is so hard to grasp?

It's time to ban all European competitions and thus restricting travel. Let the local leagues play out.

    It's not just the players.
The background staff, officiating, stadium workers.
Could still technically be a couple of hundred in the stadium.
    You are downplaying the risk.

This goes beyond sport,an average across the EPL of about 40-50k in a confined space, even a small percentage gets it or brings the virus on a bus, train whatever going home from the game it's passed on. They go home, pass it on to the family and friends. Viola the infection rate explodes. The vunerable will die and all because someone wanted to see a match.
    Sounds hysterical but it's fact.
Public health supercedes a fans craving for a trophy.

The aim of cancellation now is to ward off things getting worse rather than continue until we can't I'd say this weekend will be the last competitive football for a few weeks.

All the Real Madrid players were sent home from training today. There's a case in their basketball team allegedly.

Here we go.., there’s no hope of leagues getting finished when the worse hasn’t even hit yet

Yeah that is true tbf. Seems like it will be suspended very soon anyway.

Going to be so many unknowns in the next few months.
No football for the next few months means no training so not like players can start playing straight away anyway when it settles down.

Because this isnt something that is gong anyway anytime soon.
Every chance next season wont start in August either

With Madrid in isolation, the game vs City will have to be called off, same with the Juve CL game.

    Football continuing is impossible.

But some want us to continue as normal and gamble on people’s life’s so they can win a trophy.

La Liga suspended for 2 weeks, no way this will be over by then. Assume all of the leagues will follow suit.

Surely if all the major leagues just postpone the games for a month or whenever this hopefully clears off then uefa will be forced to act and cancel the euros till next year. Then complete the leagues and champo in the summer

2 weeks brings it up to the international break so no games until April

    League definitely getting suspended today.

This won’t be just for a month, will be a lot longer, could be September before this eases off. China shut down completely (which we won’t) and they are only now starting to supposedly go back the other way.

Id say finish this season in October/Nov. Then a 19 game season next season

One player showed symptoms, looked to be getting better but relapsed.
The players union will act and refuse to play ala Italy.

Sampdoria stiker Manolo Gabbiadini has announced that he has COVID 19. That's two Serie A players in less that 24 hours. It's only a matter of time before PL players test positive for it (if those Leicester players don't already have it). The league has to stop immediately.

Seasons over guys, lets face it, the logistics at this stage just dont add up to there being a reasonable solution, we're done until this thing passes.

It might sound selfish but if everyone is locked up we do need something to stop us from going crazy. If football can go ahead behind closed doors safety then I think it should.

It can't if players are infected. It's a health and safety issue. There's no way to implement "safe distance" when playing football.
