This is a pretty pedantic question for this forum, but if you were having a casual discussion with a friend over messenger about a possible collaboration working together and referred to an email somebody had sent which mentioned them, to which they suggested to forward the email, would it be reasonable to assume it's ok to just paste the relevant mail into the conversation instead or would this be seen as a breech of trust and denying their request and thus creating a kerfuffle over trust and not providing them what they requested to move forward?

Forwarding to me is simply sending on communication and there's no stipulation it has to be done via the same medium. Is this correct?

Is it reasonable to assume it's ok to forward communication via a different medium? 3 votes

I think so long as the message isn't taken out of context and is shared in the way it was intended to be then that's fine. For example in some places not everyone will have email access so printing it off or even sending it as a text is acceptable so long as theres no way anything could get "lost in translation" as that would be unfair on whomever sent it originally. Ideally the message would be seen in its entirety but theres also obviously cases where that might not be appropriate.
