Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Singapore did an amazing job in fairness. One of the first places outside of China to get it, and managed to keep the daily case rate below 10. It looks like they have successfully contained it.

There was a great video posted a few days back on here about Singapore, they really acted quick

    I was right

I'm going to mystic meg it and say that all non-essential workplaces will be closed by this day next week.

It seems like trumps travel ban woke up the EU, so fair play to trump. He might be a looper and I gave him **** last night but he is a genius

Do you think the government/HSE made those decisions since Trump announced his travel ban during the night?
This plan has been in motion for a bit longer than that. Give our guys some credit!

Everything about this is surreal. Things are happening every 10 minutes that are so shocking and significant that they'd be a headline on a normal day.

It's impossible to focus on getting any work done with so much happening.

Anyone returning from Cheltenham needs to be ****ed in the sea for idiocy.

And what about their near-minimum wage staff? Or keeping the rent, bills and insurance going?

Be better if there was a creche to have your child to return to no?

Not saying I disagree entirely. But it's not a straightforward case of refunds at all. Nobody knows.

Well people pay for a service. It is not the parent's responsibility to pay staff.

It should continue for a month and anyone there should be made stay there

But Mary Lou would sort it - anyone who had the coronavirus would be kneecapped so they couldnt leave the house.
    Problem solved.

I was supposed to be at Cheltenham this week for work for the entire week. I fell down my stairs and broke my ankle last week.

Think my guardian angel pushed me :D

Thats a joke but I was gutted when it happened, now I'm delighted!

    Quote him. Prove it

"During a Feb. 28, 2020, campaign rally in South Carolina, President Donald Trump likened the Democrats' criticism of his administration's response to the new coronavirus outbreak to their efforts to impeach him, saying "this is their new hoax." During the speech he also seemed to downplay the severity of the outbreak, comparing it to the common flu."

    Why?

    This is necessary.

It's not gonna be nice but it's gotta be done.

I know it's necessary and frankly, for me and my son, it actually is going to be quite nice. I've been preparing for this for some time and have a range of great at home activities planned for the next while. I have been hoping for this to happen and believe it's a positive step given what we are facing, albeit possibly a week too late. But I guess it actually happening is still a horrible shock. I can't imagine what it's like for people who've been going through life blithely ignorant for the last few weeks.

So libraries, council buildings, car testing etc. Are these open, are these public institutions?

Crèches should double their prices because of the risk and extra work load.

    So was I.
    But it ain't a competition :)
No one is winning anything in this thing I am afraid.

Talk of redeploying people in CS to do contact tracing. Would seem sensible

Could this not harm us more, we might get a lot more people from Europe coming to Ireland to fly to the USA now or am I missing something? A lot of airlines going to hit the wall here and a lot of jobs at risk.

    Its a disgrace Joe!

I really feel for those who can't work from home, whose employers have not implemented any contingency, and now have to stress over what they'll do with any children they have in childcare.

    Personal responsibility is a thing.

    There are no excuses.

Obviously im not expert but surely this will still be around on the 29th of march , I reckon for months ,

Will the kids at home not be in more contact with different adults than they would be on a school day ,
Lets face it they all won't be kept in ,
So then when they go back on the 29th will they not be super spreaders ?
