Are some just addicted to moaning & complaining?

The government are doing all they can.
We are practically now in lockdown with only 43 cases.

Credit where it is due they are being pro active.

6 nations called off while other countries have huge amount of 50,000 games.
Patrick's Day called while still going ahaed in certain places in the US.

Absolutely. I can’t fathom people saying that the government has done nothing. The response is not perfect but from what I can see, we are faring better than other European countries. The six nations game was called off quite early and that move came in for a lot of criticism (I know that wasn’t the government though).

Dail sittings will have to be suspended, although in fairness most of the time there are less than 100 people in the chamber.

As an English guy... I'd just like to congratulate you all for living in a country with a government that can see sense and puts its people first.

Here, all of the chat I'm hearing is about the damage isolation will do to the economy.

Thank you, and the best of luck to yourselves.

When you look back what Kermit de Frog was saying last week and got hammered here by some for what he was saying is coming true. Thanks man for your insight as today announcements are no shock to me or many others here.

    I'm actually relieved today.

I thought I was having a mental breakdown 3 weeks ago when I was stocking up, but it turns out I was not that mad.

Even doing this today will save an untold number of lives in the long run.

Now, what they need to do, is implement quarantines and tests on everyone coming into the country.

No point in doing this and not stopping sick people coming in.

Ha yeh, one of my friends is telling everybody I predicted this in January. I didn’t predict anything , I’ve just been following significantly more informed sources since then.

Singapore did an amazing job in fairness. One of the first places outside of China to get it, and managed to keep the daily case rate below 10. It looks like they have successfully contained it.

    Taiwan did even better.

An island half the size of Ireland 80 miles off the Chinese mainland, with a HUGE expat community in China, with many coming home for the Lunar New Year in January.

They started their preventive measures on 31 December 2019 when there were just 27 confirmed cases in China. They had their first case on 21 January.

They even had a visit from the death ship, the cruise liner Diamond Princess, before it went to Japan.

It has so far managed to keep confirmed cases to 49 with one death, 20 recovered and none in a serious condition.

If only we had followed their lead on how an island nation can deal with this Fu(king virus.

Our first group of detected infections were Northern Italy in origin. So the consequences of that are still working through the health system.

Cheltenham clowns return tomorrow and over weekend so that gets us to 29th March allowing 14 days for symptoms and then detection. So Easter will be another group of cases emerging.

Allowing for community transmission during these stages you are looking at ongoing problems to end of April.

It will be early May before things might begin to settle but really we are in new and uncharted territory.

Big spikes in Qatar and Bahrain .... bugger was hoping the heat might slow the spread .... :( ... could be still of course, maybe they'd be even worse if they were cooler climates...

Expect a large increase in cases announced this evening.

Unsurprising and very predictable. The horse has long since bolted on containment. Delay will be a challenge.

Are schools in tomorrow Friday or off?

The mansion house from the centenary sitting last year was able to spread out sufficiently to mean there was distance between people.

It will depend on your priest and your wedding venue. You will have to reduce the numbers.

I think Taiwan was very badly effected by SARS. They realised quickly what needed to be done.

No one knows, but hopefully if we can slow this, give medical teams time to work on treatments that work it could be a 'thing' we live with with treatment until they have a vaccine.
