Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Kids eating people out of house and home for the foreseeable future, got to stock up on noodles and Pringles. A jam sangwich and an apple ain't going to cut it now.

Certainly glad I had the foresight to stock up on food previously.

While the virus threat will have very little impact on stocks, there was always a good chance the mindless morons would cause a run on the shops.
Oh my god I never reply to you because you're clearly deluded but what a 180 you've done since yesterday.

The Prison Service could well see staffing levels decimated by this.
Continuing visits and not restricting numbers associating by at least landings is stupidity IMO.

There is a serious risk of handing control to prisoners if "normal" protocols continue.

During the Beast From The East there was a skeleton staff on. Things were down slowly and methodically. No visits. Fed and showered and given calls in small groups under supervision. Prisoners think they’re entitled to this that and the other. Realistically, they’re to given food, water and bedding. That’s it. Exercise if possible. When the **** hits the fan, they should be told to just get on with it. They have tv to occupy them. Could be a lot worse.

If you want to force the government to take more proactive measures, show your support for this petition:
    https://www.change.org/Covid-19IE

I think actions will be decided by Public Health experts rather than by an online petition.

I also expect partial internet and cellular network shut-downs in a similar period. To 'curb panic'.

If they do that I predict 'bring back the porn' riots by the multitudes of people stuck at home.

    Exactly !!!!
WTF is all the panic shopping about ??? Retail Ireland have said that there is no problem with the supply chain and the have contingecy plans in place to ensure supermarkets remain stocked...

And can anyone please enlighten me as to the carnage re toilet rolls, seriously WTF is that all about ????

The country is full of absolute idiots full stop. Sheep who couldn't make up their mind to buy a few extra bits the last few weeks. They wait for Leo to make a statement, while probably slating him here for every thing he does.

I for one am delighted with the government response so far, balanced, controlled, level headed, not hysteric or reacting to social media rubbish

"Don't have gatherings of more than 100 people indoors."

Doesn't apply until tomorrow, tis grand ;)

Plenty of evidence out there unfortunately. I feel we are not been given the full picture on this. If we were we might run out and panic buy.

Weeks ago those of us adding a little bit to our shops were called out as loons. As I pointed out at the time, when the panic around this sort of thing occurs, it occurs quickly. Got plenty without disrupting supply lines and not standing in a queue full of panicked people, some of whom may help spread the virus. But yeah, we were loons. There were some very derogatory posters at the time. Hope they quietly went from scoffing at us and stocked up a little in advance for themselves.

My wife and I are just out of the rotunda. After a heap of IVF treatments, we have a really strong heartbeat after 8 weeks.

Just a little positivity to offset all the negativity.

For those of you who are that way inclined, keep us in your prayers. For those who aren't, send some positive vibes.

    Good luck everyone.

The OH went up to our Local Aldi to view the madness for herself. The place is packed and plenty of empty shelves. She met a friend who said she caught someone trying to take the last bag of potatoes out of her trolley when her back was turned :D:D

Czech Republic now closing borders to incoming travellers from 15 “high risk countries” (can’t find the full list but France, Germany, and the U.K. are included).

If you think that then you're grossly misinformed.

Unilateral responses has caused ALL of the momentum we've seen. Cancelling parades all over the country made the government act.

"Hysteria" over school closures led to today's shutdown.

If we want to change the Zeitgeist, we have to express our opinion somehow. Trump has invited free movement between America and Ireland. We still have free movement to the EU. How do you think people from the Schengen region are going to attempt get to America?

Ireland barely 50 cases and we re shutting down

I dont get it, Ive lived through the troubles, 2 gulf wars, afghanistan, the Ukraine, scores of african conflicts and not to mention the balkans. And not a bother till now, pansies

I think it's because there will be a lot more cases coming down the line.....

I don't think the US is that far behind tbh. They've just done **** all testing. We can't see the numbers, but the curve is there.

I wouldn't want to be in the US once they declare martial law. The though of all those 4th amendment loons with their ammo bunkers will be scary

Ireland doesn't really do social unrest in my experience of the place. Even in the midst of major financial meltdowns, we got on with it.

I don't think this will be any different.

That was different There was not a run on toilet roll.
A nataional Toiletroll Managment Agency (NTMA) established to seek additional toilet roll from the World Toiletroll Oranisation (WTO). The second time Ireland has had to be bailed out. In the words of George Hamilton: The nation holds its breath...

From what I can tell they increased some testing the past couple of days.

At a guess it would be the test to postie ratio more than the sheer number.
