Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Lads. This is surreal. It's really happening. I don't know what to say. This is really happening. This has me more spooked than when I had to go into work the night of the Manchester bombings. I'm not even panicked. Just numb from information overload.

Sorry, there isn't any useful information but today has drained me. The contingency plans are scary.

True, it brings out the worst in people.

It can also bring out the best in people. Its always easier to focus on the negative and the scary right now but if we want, we can choose to focus on the positive.

As I was collecting my youngest from school earlier I was walking past the school bus. The bus driver was just eating crisps waiting for the children to get on board, seemed like he was having a moment to himself. I dont think I have ever really looked at him or paid attention (as my children dont take the bus). But as I passed I looked nod and gave him a wave. He waved back and it was one of those "things are going to change now, good luck" kind of waves because he doesn't know me and has prob never seen me.

Most people are good, but it can feel like many are bad, probably because some of us (certainly me at times) are hardwired to focus on the negative things. I think whats happening now can lead to great things aswell, try and forge some community spirit back. We are all in this together and the best way of getting through it is by looking out for each other. Maybe for few weeks , forgetting about the rat race, economies, stupid arguments, politics, maybe this can be a good thing for us to reassess how we have been living. Regadless of what happens, we all have a chance to spend some quality time with the ones we probably take for granted.

We went to town to get our regular shop.
Toilet Rolls were in Tesco and Supervalu. Tesco allowed three packs per customer.
There was Pasta and Rice but some was sold out.
Loads of meat, frozen food, etc.
There was a few extra people about. Aldi looked busy but there carpark is hard to get out of.
I was expecting it to be a lot worse going by the comments on here.

Any idea if they have circuit breakers on European stock exchanges? It seems to be what has prevented double digits drops in a single day on the American ones.

Are there any stats to break down how CV was caught? Related directly to travel, community transmission, etc.

I suspect most at this stage are community transmission.

What’s the protocol on reporting figures? We seem to issue early evening, those countries issuing now and haven’t much of a time difference.

We are horrible mé féiner ***** in this country deep down. Like there’s some lad at home now feeling delighted that he has 500 bottles of hand sanitiser and there’s some old people without a drop of it.

Probably sticking them up on Adverts as we type.

Italy is somewhere I’m still desperate to visit. I spent all of Call Me By Your Name spellbound by Lombardy.

The climate, the little village, the lakes, trees, open fields, Timothée Chalamet, all beautiful.

Is it not a positive that there are contingency plans though?

None really. Each to their own. Some seem to roll out figures on an ongoing basis and others at specific times of the day.

I'm so sorry that this year I and my wife won't be able to visit your amazing country again (unless something miracolous happens). It would have been our 22nd time.

I know you from the animals and pets issues thread talking about your cats. I remember your gentle concern for the cats in our country on the roads, so I know you visit a lot and have a lot of affection for the place. Just look after yourself and your wife. Stay safe and you'll be back here again next year instead I'm sure.

Have heard from a concrete source (member of staff) that story is real. They were sent home from work for 4 days but hotel still open apparently.

I have my doubts that this is happening in the way people keep describing (mass hoarding etc). Is it not more likely that hand sanitiser is something that never really sold in big numbers, so all it would take is a large amount of people buying 2/3 bottles to **** up the supply chains.

A floor was isolated. There were people being escorted from the hotel this afternoon to ambulances, all on video. There was pics of hazmat suits on the floor and everything. Seemed real to me.

I know I've posted it before and others have leveled the accusation of China-bashing at me, but the Chinese Communist Party really are a bunch of red-fascist plonkers.

And I don't believe for a second they have the virus 'under control.' It's still circulating in the country and they'll juke the stats so they can thumb their nose at other countries as they try to deal with the mess that they created.

My employer is telling us we're still operating, not giving up where I work.
Some people here had thought they'd be getting a free holiday.
But I'd actually prefer to be going in to work as I'm working in the horticultural sector and with trees, shrubs, glass houses etc

Ill probably be on my own as some people have family and want to lock themselves away for a few weeks.
Ill gladly get the herbaceous borders split and divided as well as look after seedlings and potting on bedding and lots of rose pruning to be done.
    Pathways cleaned of weeds etc
Im out in a parkland which will be open hopefully in April.
Nature will be a good distraction.

    Why are the scary

Because there are none and we’ve missed the boat on the ones that could’ve been done 2 weeks ago.

5000 Italians wandering about Dublin over the weekend on the piss.
