Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Boris not fluffing his words here.
Stark and dire facts being spoken.

The word fluffing is all an act with Boris, a bit like when Bertie used to have the fake bumbling stammer.

Best scientific advice is to keep schools open at this time - Boris.

Would love to know why it conflicts with ours?

I'd love to know what scientists Boris is speaking with that think mass gatherings have no effect on the spread of a virus.

My employer is telling us we're still operating, not giving up where I work.
Some people here had thought they'd be getting a free holiday.
But I'd actually prefer to be going in to work as I'm working in the horticultural sector and with trees, shrubs, glass houses etc

Ill probably be on my own as some people have family and want to lock themselves away for a few weeks.
Ill gladly get the herbaceous borders split and divided as well as look after seedlings and potting on bedding and lots of rose pruning to be done.
    Pathways cleaned of weeds etc
Im out in a parkland which will be open hopefully in April.
Nature will be a good distraction.

What do you work as? Sounds lovely

I cannot understand the whole stockpiling thing. The shops aren't ****ing closing.

What do you think will happen when the UK, Spain, Germany , France and the Netherlands etc are basically struggling due to the number of cases they get and how it’s rapidly increasing every day and a helluva lost more people are dying. People will be out sick from work, people will be mourning , people will be isolated from each other etc and it will lead to less production.
It won’t happen for 2-3 months but once people are panic buying it’s a vicious circle.
Other people even though they know it’s crazy also realise they have to also start doing the same because when food production drops it will be mayhem.

The government is actively asking people to socially distance. If we don't and we carry on like the Italians did, they'll eventually just have to order us to shut in. People really need to cop on to how serious this is now.

Their advice is obviouisly wrong. That cannot be right.

The UK approach today reminds me of Italy two weeks ago.

Fair play to Ireland for taking drastic measures quickly, didn't think we would but its the right thing to do.

Listening to Sky News earlier and they sounded really pissed, in a “why is everyone else taking this so seriously and we aren’t” way.

How are they allowed to be open tomorrow? I thought schools and colleges were to shut from 6pm tonight unconditionally. Theres an email circulating around dundalk institute of technology too that they are closed to students but open as a workplace. Are there levels of closure allowed that we dont know about from the dept of education?

My folks live in Spain and there are 3000 cases there now and they said there is zero difference in the supermarkets, no panic buying etc. Maybe I should try to get down there for the foreseeable future.

Well that's because the government have not made an announcement like our government did today.

Also, maybe their media is different there (no idea if it is or not) but I find the Irish media is spreading a lot of panic and mistruths.
