Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is it just me or is there a lot of politicians and high ranking ones catching this virus?

The Donald did sound a bit raspy this morning....

Based on the resolution of the photo Trump tweeted, though, it appears USA 224 has a resolution of at least 10 centimeters, if not better as Trump appears to have taken an image of a printout.

Is everyone aware they did an experiment a few days ago mimicking the actions of someone with the novel starins of corona virus and found it to be hanging in the air after a cough or breathing outward with any force as per normal conversation FOR 6 HOURS.

This basically means the virus is airborne, especially when you consider high trafficked areas like walkways and classrooms etc.

Why on earth was this not shared immediately? Are they trying to prevent hysteria or something? Or is it still all a result of the people who slagged everyone else off if they used a hand sanitiser a week ago, arseholes

People at work using those Dyson hand dryers when the rolly towels are available. If still being used in the morning will get on to health and safety.

It's fine for people primarily working on computers

Manufacturing has been hugely affected by this virua

That’s another thing with working from home people need to understand.
Even those working primarily on computers or office based have massive security issues re remote working on certain networks.
Certain security policies will only allow access to networks directly and for good reason.
I can only imagine a limited number of professions where working from home is feasible

Your answer will determine whether it is horse**** or not.

You sound like one of the people I described from a week ago, telling everyone it's just a bad cold, or we'll all get it anyway, or calling people idiots for using hand sanitisers etc. I hope you're not.

But just for you, I've gone and got you an article, can't find the other one i read which stated 6 hours, this experiment showed 3

If you are a healthy 20-35 year old, is it possible to recover from this if you stay home? Or do you have to go into ICU?

Did Merkel casually say the other day that she expected 50 million Germans to be infected?

Yeh but they had to go to work on Monday.

Looking at the Italian numbers, only about 10% of people in ICU are below the age of about 40.

So, it’s highly unlikely someone in that age bracket would need ICU. But not impossible.

I think the infection is way, way more widespread than we know, because we aren’t mass testing.

The rich and powerful are able to get tested right now, ahead of the normal pleb, and so we are hearing more of their results.

Denmark has 600 cases, population 5.6 million.
Has a land border with Germany - population 82 million, which has 2745 cases.

The only way I can explain those differences is number of tests.

The vast majority of people will recover with no medical intervention. Probably not even a need for paracetamol.

Why are Germany doing so well? I think the UK are following their example. Hoping their younger population can absorb the damage.

Their testing rates can’t be good, so their infection rates can’t be accurate. We’ve got a lot of family in North Rhine-Westphalia. Cousin, her husband and her son in law have all been very sick. She’s a school teacher. The doctor said they probably had Coronavirus but no point testing to confirm what they already know.

I wonder how many of the local transmissions took place in hospitals?
Hospitals are going to become the most dangerous places to be in.

Consultant called me yesterday, he was doing most of his scheduled appointments for his clinic by phone.

Makes complete sense, he's got all my records, has already examined me previously etc can still refer me for any additional tests I need and emailed me over a referral too.

That prevented me (and many others) sitting in hospital for a few hours anyway.

Repeat visits for non-serious outpatient clinics are usually only for a quick chat and check and see if any further action needed for patient at that time.

I think we may see some positive changes and efficiencies around the way things at work and in healthcare as a result of all this.

Its not really taking hold in the warmer parts of South East Asia after initial cases so it's probably not as bad in Vietnam either.

As for China they have closed all the makeshift hospitals and Xi visited Wuhan just the other day. That in itself should tell you it's under control.
That's fine, but when the folk start moving around, going back to work etc, I hope it stays under control. List thing we need is a resurgence, going around the world again like a Wuhan wave.

Most people will recover fine at home. Even those of us older than that. I've been researching how to treat pneumonia at home as part of my preparation for this pandemic and in many milder cases it's very doable. Obviously not something I'd ever, ever normally envision doing or recommending but in these circumstances, I think it's something worth reading up on. I'd have been quaffing back the cough medicine if I got it, for example, now I know to avoid it.
