Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Buy these 2 things, if your not.improvef in 24hrs contact a doctor. There's nothing the doctor can give you for those symptoms.

    And

I expect you to be feeling better in hours.

    Thanks.

I know that. It’s more if I have the virus or not so what I can do to others.

1- There is no need to stockpile anything.
2- Food supplies if all types are plentiful.
3- Panic buying & stockpiling in not necessary.
4- There is no world shortage of toilet rolls.
5- STOCKPILING IS TOTALLY NOT NEEDED.

The biggest threat may not be from the virus itself, but through unrational human behaviour ( stockpiling) which may lead to civil unrest.

Don't be daft, now is the time for realism and reason. Stockpiling is only prudent some of us had it done weeks ago.
The supply chain is vunrable if there's any intrepution anywhere from the farmer to the checkout girl.

I’m torn on the one hand I want to ring the HSE & get tested as we both work in very large offices & the toddler is in crèche & I’d want others to know. On the other I worry I’d be wasting HSE time that would be better spent testing elsewhere.

Phone them. At least have that conversation. Its important you do.

It's funny to here of the drama about isolation, it reminds me how unusual my life is. Going days in social isolation without having a conversation is the norm for me, I've went weeks without conversing before. This is common for people with social anxiety disorder, Aspergers, agoraphobia, etc. Psychologically I don't think it is that damaging, I would still consider myself mostly sane but I just have brain fog and my social skills are even worse.

Also it isn't really social isolation if you talk to people on the phone, so in that regard this carry on with the virus isn't real isolation, just physical isolation. Yet the clowns will probably act like they are struggling with it.

Just up and went straight to boards and yours is the first post I read. I understand everything you say. Every time I heard self isolation over the past few weeks I thought "oh bliss"!

But must add that when I was younger I might end up seeing or interacting with nobody for a week or two and that wasn't so great. But now with phones and internet it's very different. You can interact with others without having to be in a noisy confusing social setting.

But over time the isolation might be difficult for the social animals out there.

Is the tightness anxiety, could also be the baby taking up space which is more than likely.
The runs is one of the early signs, the toddler probably brought something home for the creche or some contamination in the kitchen during food time. I wouldn't panic yet, your probably safer keep away from the doctors.

The way they're handling this is bananas. I work front of house in a busy hotel. Have come into contact with any amount of people flying in from all over the world the last few weeks. Started coming down with something.. Rang the doc for advice. I could barely breathe down the phone, coughing, fever.. All the classic symptoms of coronavirus. I explained to the receptionist my line of work and that although I don't know for certain I've been in contact with someone.. There's a high chance I couldve been... But before I even told her that.. Before I even told her what I worked as, before even asking if I'd been in contact with anyone or been abroad.. She was telling me to come in for an app. Couldn't get to see the doc cause they were booked out.. Had to go in to the nurse TWICE... And the first time she hadn't even examined me.. Within my first few secs of being there.. She told me it wasn't coronavirus. I mean how would anyone know that without properly hearing my symptoms or examining me? Especially seeing as they're the symptoms we've been told to look out for down to a tee. Hopefully I'm among the lucky ones and don't have it but I'm self isolating of my own accord as I'm still dying sick with a killer chest and have barely been able to keep my head off my pillow all week. Absolutely gobsmacked at how the situation was handled given the current warnings in place. If they're bringing every case in the same the virus is gonna spread like wildfire. My family, work.. Nobody can believe it! There's no way in hell the government have the right numbers in relation to this thing.

Italy waited weeks before they implemented any restrictions.
    Not really.

    21 February: first case
23 February: Italy had already done 3000 tests and found 132 positive cases
Lockdown starts for the epicentres, population 50000 people, with police and army check points.
That paid off, as there are no new cases in that area now
4 March: approx 2700 positive cases - Italy closes schools and universities - nationwide

Had an idiot come into work with a cold and thought he was immune because his kids are clean and have no way of catching it.

Wish people would take this more seriously.

Thanks all for replies. It’s possible the tightness is anxiety I dismissed it on Tuesday as being in my head, with all that has happened since I’m not sure. The toddler went to crèche yesterday’s, he wasn’t in great form & hasn’t been for days but we were under pressure to logon work & I didn’t want to feel I was making excuses not to work daft as that sounds. Crèche called after an hour to say he had a temp of 39 I felt so guilty about other people I got him straight away even though the crèche were very relaxed about it & didn’t ask me to.

It’s possible I have a stomach bug but the timing is odd & I almost never get sick. The HSE may refuse to test me as I haven’t travelled or been in contact with a known case.

If they make that call, thats fair enough. But let them make that call. Ring them. You will feel better for it. And you will be doing your bit. Everyone needs to play ball here.

I think it’s the aide who met Trump who tested positive rather than the man himself? Could be wrong. In Canada, we are waiting for Justin Trudeau’s test results.

    How do you know?

It's already disrupted since January, what makes you think it can't happen to the food supply next.
Let's say staff in your local Dunnes and Supervalue test positive, what happens then?

Guy on the radio earlier said they have a lot of specialist medical equipment that allows them to oxygenate the blood

Think we've got some of them, but certainly not the same ratio to head the Germans have

Italy apparently don't have much in terms of this type of equipment.

Do you mean these Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) respirators/ventilators ?
Italian region of Lombardy bought more of them at the start of this.

There is nothing I have not been able to get since January. There is contingency planning for a staff member testing positive. How do you know its disrupted?

Throat is irritable, coughing, glands area bit sensitive. Feel the mucus tripping into throat.

Things wouldn’t bother me previously as it’s just a dose and it’ll pass but it’s more the am I a walking virus.

    I meant ringing Ed also.

Virus is associated with dry cough not wet mucus cough still though take no chances self isolate and call the hse for further instructions, the only way we will stop this is to live accordingly to the guidelines

Heading into work now. I am a self employed food producer & retailer, I have 6 staff under my care today all whom have to deal directly & in close contact with the public. Please be patient when in the shops today, we are trying our best whilst trying to avoid direct contact with the public. We don’t have the luxury of working from home or avoiding people, we deal with people to earn a living!
