This is "Current Affairs and the impact of this virus on Sporting and other leisure events is part of the discussion. A more important point I would like to make is some of the information coming out of UK football clubs (and indeed Italian and Spanish League clubs) can be very helpful in understanding the spread of this virus.

I am sure English Premiership clubs are monitoring all their players very carefully, and we probably get more valid statistical data from these sources rather than that available in connection with the general population (many of whom may never realise they have had this virus)

Basically Italy. This is the reason the army have been drafted, Garda do not have resources to police such a scenario.

Yup, clearly closing schools helped in a big way in 1918 and would help today. The big problem today CE is how society has changed since then. In 1918 the vast majority of married women were housewives not working outside the home. Childcare was their job and wasn't an issue to nearly the same degree as it is today where in the vast majority of cases both parents work outside the home to earn a crust. Hell if this had kicked off in the 60's, 70's, even much of the 1980's here in Ireland with far fewer working mothers it would be a much easier thing to implement. Today what do working parents do with their children?

This is why we should be careful with the online cases dashboards. Ways of counting and accuracy of figures varies a lot from country to country. So comparisons or aggregate numbers should be taken with a pinch of salt.

We'll pass 150K by end of this week, early next week

Yes, in fairness, I know you're absolutely right - it's just sickening to think that upwards of 20,000 will come home after being in such close quarters - a breeding ground for this. Might be the biggest gamble of their lives.

This is unlikely and stems from the post earlier in the week that all personal needed to have their kit ready in barracks.

Simply take over Hotels . Im sure they are pretty empty and the Government could rent them off the industry.

Roughly 25% daily increases is what we seem to be looking at (in countries where no restriction measures are in place).
