Boss has told us to work from home but as we work in biological production, we can be called in at any minute. Kind of defeats the purpose really.

Two projects cancelled in our office today. I'd be amazed if I still have a job in 2 weeks. Working in construction .

But in reality thats just buying time as when you lift the measures and they will have to lift the measures then the upward curve starts again. The big problem with this virus is it transmits even without symptoms where SARS only became transmittable after you had been sick for a couple of days. Therefore its hard to isolate cases and slow the rate of transmission. The only possible way is to force families to isolate in their homes for 3 weeks, letting those that have it see it through til the immune system overcomes it. With no supporting body left it cannot survive but thats next to impossible

The development of a quick and reliable pre-symptomatic test should be the priority, even ahead of a vaccine.
Without that, it's hard to see how it can be completely contained.

So statistically, one in twenty of posters on this thread will die from this?

Unless you're in the UK where it'll be more and the government will thank you for your sacrifice.

Any real evidence about immunity? Heard you might have immunity for two weeks afterwards. That's very worrying if it's true.

I’m afraid to be sent home as productivity goes up 50% when I’m not there.

Jesus, watching this Trumpian ****show, and Borisbollix the other day, I'm bloody grateful to be living in this country.

This is going to touch most of us to some degree or other, so the sensible game is to keep a lid on it long enough for our health service to wade through it, rather than drown under a tsunami of cases.
I trust the experts here are making the right decisions strategically, so now it's really up to each of us to cop the fock on and do the right thing consistently, until we are out the other side of this next autumn.

    CDC estimates for US pandemic

    Projected estimates are -
    96 million infections
    480,000 deaths

    Worst case scenario estimates are-
    214 million infections
    1.7 million deaths
    21 million hospitalisation

    Fairly grim

Prof. on Liveline said a projection is not a 'forecast'. It's a theoretical number that could end up being meaningless.

You could set up a new company and a projection states that you will have 50k customers in the first year. It could just as easily be 50 customers.

Bit harsh hoping something would get infected with something that could potentially kill them
