Lads have to ask and before people say otherwise I'm happy to have some sort of lock down, but if the place locks completely down how are you all surviving without wages etc. It seems to me everybody talks about the greater good but I'm talking short term. I know loads of people who rely on their wages for weekly food etc.
Seems to me that a lot of posters on here are people who have jobs that allow working from at home or don't need child care etc but there are alot of people who don't have the same options.

There has to be something done. Surely the government realizes we can't live without money. Rent, bills, food need to be paid for.

It's a lot quieter than normal tbf. A lot.

Yeah that's nothing compared to a normal Saturday night. The temple bar are turning people away as they've 100 people inside.

Anyway anyone going there is a tourist, no sane irish person would go into the temple bar pub

I am not amazed, addiction knows no logic, nor does it take account of self preservation or duty of care to family or friends.

While not condoning going to the pub, I don't see the same outrage over whole families packing the supermarket. Surly one parent could stay at home if possible.

Watching Ant and Dec on the TV, live from a packed studio and with presenters out meeting hordes of people. Utter madness

They are far worse than anyone in a pub right now

First it was the rugby match.
    Then the parade.
    Then Cheltenham.
    Then the panic shoppers.
    Now the pubs.

People just love a good bandwagon.

People feel helpless and can’t blame the government for once, so take out their anger on others.

People still dont seem to understand that this is passed person to person..........dont know how they dont understand it.

Unnecessary close contact with people MAY prolong the crisis and MAY result in more deaths.

Its actually quite simple....like some peoples minds.

Depends on the pub in my opinion. I know my local has increased distances between tables, a reduction of about half the table numbers and when all the tables are taken up then that's it nobody else allowed in. Also not accepting cash, card only.

Works both ways, between customer and publican. Any pub still cramming people in is just irresponsible

But it doesn't matter... even with space between tables, that's still not really social distancing. If there is even one person in that pub, who has this virus, everybody is at huge risk of getting it... a little bit more distance between tables won't make that big of a difference!

Social distancing really means giving the pub a miss for a few weeks, while you have a killer virus on the loose! Is it really that much of a sacrifice, in order to potentially save many lives?

With 6 and 8 to a cell, cant see how it could be described as self isolating

Where are there 8 people in a single prison cell in this country? Where do you get this information? Or are you pulling that out of your hole?

For all the clowns between 19 and 50 going on the piss tonight, you might wanna take heed of the above quote.
Try not to be so selfish that you end up pushing our health service to bursting point.

presuming eveyone is gonna survive on the social welfare until they can go back to work ...totally agree with the lockdown as well...i dont have a job i can work from home either but as im in the food industry im thinking we will be working until sick...then i would be going on social welfare most likely until i could work again...but of course i think alot of people would have to dip into savings if hopefully they have some to keep going too...going to the pubs at this time apart from spreading the disease like a moron is gonna be throwing 100 euro away you could be spending on rent, food ect

That is a rather dumb post when you consider that the point of restrictions is to prevent the spread of a virus. What you are saying is that it's okay to spread it in a supermarket but not okay to spread it in a pub.

And just because one goes to a pub does not mean one has an alcohol problem, pubs are social occasions and a relief from the working week, where for some ppl who are single for example is their only opportunity for social interaction.

There's a ****ing unprecedented crisis on ffs, people won't be socialising normally for months. Stop trying to justify selfish behaviour. Wake the **** up to the reality.

Of course, most people don't have drinking problems.

That is correct, Most people are at home right now.

One question you are asked in Alcoholics Anonymous is if you have ever risked your health to have a drink when it was unsafe to do so.... I’d say anybody in a pub Is doing that right now. Doesn’t make them alcoholics but it means they tick at least one box required to qualify as one...

As I said, I know a lot about drinking problems, so I know a lot about problem drinking...... it’s not always about how much you drink either, self delusion plays a big role, you can see that in abundance....

This thread was interesting until today but now it is more about bitching and moaning than the covid19 outbreak.

Post after Post after Post of bitch whine moan crybabies.

Guys, you're wearing down your immune system with all the stress and the hate.

Calm down, get off boards, switch off the phone, have a glass of wine at home and watch something good on Netflix.

But but but dont you know wine turns your immune system into jelly

More rumours flying around. Hearing from AGS members and a nurse i know thats red warning from Monday.

    Anyone else hearing anything?
Yes I heard the same. We cant possibly know for sure until government announces it, but it seems like it would be a wise idea given the rate at which our cases are doubling and the overall stupidity of our population.

All this is showing me is that there is quite a large proportion of the population that just dont give a toss about anyone or anything but themselves. I feel sorry for them to be honest

We didn’t need Wuhan flu to show us that. We have turned into an awful selfish self centered shower in this nation in the last 15 years. Take a bus queue for example, doesn’t exist in Ireland.

China was bolting people into houses, dousing streets, checking everyone who travelled on roads and trains into and out of the affected regions, and much more to boot. The more I think about it the more screwed we are here and in Europe as a whole.
