Anyone know what's happening school trips now that countries have begun to stop flights. Will we see any of the money back?

So no one knows what exactly the HSE means by the 'North West'.

Jebus wept, when Met Eireann give a weather forecast... it's not a state secret where Malin Head or Roches Point are located.

The HSE should stop this cloak and dagger bullcrap and tell us exactly the town and county where the greatest danger is located.

It might even keep the headbangers out of the pubs in those towns !

Supposed to be 3 cases in Letterkenny Hospital , could be BS

Is it rude to ask visitors to your house to wash hands when they come, and maybe correct them on their cough/sneeze etiquette? Have plenty of anti-bacterial wipes and dettol in the press anyway but just looking for peoples views on this

If you MUST have visitors, you don't ASK them to wash their hands. You act like it would be COMPLETELY UNBELIEVABLE for them to NOT wash their hands. Like so:

"Hey! Come in, come in. Lovely to see you. Now you'll have to use the kitchen tap I'm afraid because it's the only mixer and the hot taps will take your skin off. There's soap just to the left of the sink. You go through and I'll grab you a hand towel. Back in a jiffy!" Then usher them through with flappy hands and grab your towel.

Basically make it so that they have to make a dick of themselves if they refuse.

And if they refuse, kick them out. 😊

Haven’t looked but surely bollox. I’m sure world leaders would be way on top of this

Interesting though that the cruise ship only hit 20% even though it should have been more like 80 or 90%. Plus the average age must have been very high.

Well if that's the case then it's a good call.

2 days is nothing but what is being suggested by many will be a very long period off time away from school, which I understand might be necessary but it is annoying to see so many having to make sacrifices because of the virus when you have others who just don't really give a s**t as long as they can get out for there drink.

First port of call is the airline/hotel then insurance company

I know a few bar men and publicans and they've not been told anything like that. Gov are leaving up to individuals to make the decision, some are getting guidance from their insurers also, with some insurers recommending closure after this weekend.

Your rank and file garda wont know details of things to be announced, not at a national level.
Next meeting of gov and health officials is monday. Nothing else decided until after that.

But yes a staggered closure should take place in my opinion, slowly wind down non essential services over the course of the week.

Good to know thanks. Someone in my family owns a pub and called me to let me know so the conversation did happen. Local detective is friendly with them and said it about the formal announcement. Anyway its tough for them as rural pubs are decimated and we all the the government dont help the self employed. It is very necessary though and if pubs are closed, coffee shops and restauranta will also need to follow suit. Health comes first but I work in a professional services firm and this is going to take some recovery economy wise.

Generally really laid back myself, but starting to worry about the job at this stage. Off till Wednesday, hopefully it'll still be there for me. Medical device company, imagine it's fairly secure compared to retail & hospitality but Christ you never know

    Uncomfortable reading from Holland.
16 year old in coma on ICU due to Covid19.
2 remarks.. it is the only child on ICU with Covid19, but another article reports half the ICU Covid19 patients are under 50.

    https://www.rtlnieuws.nl/nieuws/nederland/artikel/5056536/sehraz-breda-coronavirus-16-intensive-care-besmet-covid19

And again for all the kids who think this is an old person's issue

    From Italy ...

Cant speak for all but in our school, the 2nd years were due to go on a Ski trip to Italy at the end of the month costing €850 per person. Was announced the other day they'd get a €630 refund not to mind all the money parents spent on clothing ect that cant be refunded. But its better to be safe than sorry. None of the parents complaining and i wouldnt be either

Business owners with significant following on social media sending wishes to staff members gone off to a hen party. Like wtf is wrong with people. That kinda thing is going to make some think it’s ok to still be heading out to these kind of gatherings. Hit the block button when you say that people with large following have a moral responsibility to do the right thing and not be promoting that. We’re all in this island together, cop on to ****, so irresponsible and not even able to take a comment on board without hitting the block button.

So in the science fiction disaster movies there is always a sealed bunker where all the elite go to escape whatever disaster that wipes out the poor Joe and Jill Soaps. How soon will the elite start planning to head for their bunkers?

if gov didn't want people in pubs order them closed otherwise they give them the wrong impression.

100%... pubs are the number one obvious breeding ground. Gyms closed, schools closed, sporting events cancelled but pubs.... ahhhhh yes a big risk too but sure.... ahhh go ahead... can’t have the publicans ( mates and families of politicians ) having to compromise in order to contribute to the wellbeing of the country and loose out on a few bob, what they worship....

I sincerely hope the good, ordinary, decent people of this country remember this, my folks always refused to vote for FG as their saying was “they only and always will put THEIR mates and businesses before the interests and wellbeing of the ordinary citizen in this country and the country “. Not usually wrong and it’s being borne out through the extreme arrogance, carelessness and outright neglect of the citizens too... the publicans too can fück right off.

For my farming relatives. Will sheep dip kill the virus?

Sheep dip can contain organophosphates, something you definitely don't want to mess with.

Organophosphorous compounds are very toxic to humans exposed even to very low doses, as they travel easily through the skin, and are cumulatively toxic

When will the penny drop here........

Dont have visitors!!! Seriously I know it's an alien concept but really only people who have to live together are supposed to spend time together right now.

Exactly right fringe girl. Shn99 you don’t really think the Italians, Spanish and now the French are locking down their people for fun. Wuhan had to as well. I’m sorry but people living under a rock need to seriously wake up might sound harsh but people may die and have died else where because some people are being far too flippant. This has been declared a pandemic by the world health Organisation, hse has guidelines on what to do if you are not sure. No visitors stay safe and as far away from people as you possibly can. If we stop the spread, we can hopefully minimize the devastation experienced by other countries. It’s not pleasant for anyone but it is what we must do.
