I've two friends that came back yesterday evening from Cheltenham. They sought out the HSE staff in the airport who told them to continue as normal but watch out for symptoms.

You would need to be Garda Vetted or you wouldn't be allowed.

Garda vetting can be done in days now. Anyway, the head of the HSE basically said that all current practices are up for review and agencies would work together to make whatever arrangements are necessary.

The Garda vetting procedure is often duplicated for many people - I am vetted separately for every one of the several agencies that I am involved with. That aspect at least could be looked at to speed up a necessary process.

I’m actually not trolling. We haven’t done anything. You can say you’re doing something but unless you’re getting results, how is it doing something? By all accounts, Leo’s appeal to the Irish public hasn’t worked. Whether closing schools amounts to doing something depends on your viewpoint. Maybe it does.

We have free travel, plans coming and going from London into Dublin unrestricted while that country goes down what many would consider a reckless approach. No mention of this anywhere.

The higher numbers only matter if the health systems come under pressure as in Span and Italy. That research is really more along the lines of "we actually don't know and may never know but it could be this many". If people have been infected and come through it without detection their only value now is to herd immunity and what level they bring to it.

I'd bet theres 10's of thousands that have had it and not even known. Many people won't go looking for a test. Who wants men in plastic suits arriving at their door whilst the neighbours curtains twitch. Most will just take a uniflu or paracetamol and stay put. Its the serious cases that we're seeing numbers for.

I think the HSE are worse for giving the guys from Cheltenham a job as medical consultants.

    Watch out for symptoms???

That's like a line from Zoolander pmsl

Can imagine the Cheltenham ilk saying, doohh see lads were consultants now, watch out for illnesses we're alright Jack.

No doubt there's a cheque in the post to the HSE now :)

Trump sticking it to Boris and his head in the sand approach, takes Ireland down as a result also, banning UK AND IRELAND travel to US.

Makes sense if we are, what were doing now wont be enough. If your going to do it, do it right. It also makes sense to do it in stages so as not to panic people (too much that is).

I'm not sure if it has been recommended in previous threads.... but this recent video by Vox is excellent.

Also, if anyone has a Netflix account, make sure you check out their episode on 'The Next Pandemic', released last November as part of their Explained series (season 2).

Isn't that what Thursday was the start of though ? Ease us into it because we saw mass panic in regards to food on Thursday and Friday.

Pubs and restaurants be a good starting point.

Retail needs to be on a phased plan and that needs to be extremely clearly communicated.

Where are you hearing it from?
I could defo see us going down the Poland route (minus the border restrictions) at some stage but think it's a bit early for that.
    Poland btw is implementing below
    - grocery stores, pharmacies, laundromats and banks will remain open
    - restaurants, pubs and clubs will be closed except those offering delivery or take-out food
