not sure why everyone's freaking out about the army. it's a national/global emergency, of course they're gonna be a state of readiness, for whatever they might need to help out with. could be delivering food to remote people, helping hospitals etc etc

    relax.

I guess theses people have not recovered yet but are also not serious cases. Most likely some of the original cases. Making space for the more critical future cases.

Yep, sad but expected as they started serious containment measures at a later stage of the epidemic than China did. It is now easy to predict that Spain will be in the same position as Italy is today in 5 to 10 days as they made the same mistake.

And many European countries are following the same path. The UK is having a late start but it is about to explode and will eventually be a total mess if they don’t change their strategy.
Where do you reckon we fit into this? I think the measures taken by Ireland have been fairly proactive so far. We are probably somewhere in-between Singapore/Taiwan (shut-up borders immediately, big response to contact tracing) and Italy/Spain ("wait-and-see" approach) in terms of measures taken?

Yeah as long as the death rate in old people only goes up by 800% it's fine :(

Whos says its fine. It was just an observation that they were all elderly, showing just how hard its hitting that age group.

Bluntly Italy waited until it spread way too far to lockdown. Too many have it and are spreading it. We (and all countries) need to react QUICKER to avoid emulating the Italy situation.

Theres a bang of fascism off Boris Johnson's herd immunity approach. Theyre essentially going to allow the old and infirm to die. Northern Ireland border needs to be closed if theyre following that approach.

If we started locking down everything but local food supplies and pharmacies the numbers crossing from NI south would drop significantly. The issue might be people from here going North for all the stuff that's still open.

Myself and the other half are living in London at the moment and the inaction over here is unbelievable.

Really need to take a leave out of ROI's book, that is if it's not too late for the UK

Bottom line is prisoners are being released due to Covid which doesn't sit very well with lots of people

How do I know that doctors' knowledge is limited? Have you been paying attention?

Prisoners being released doesn't sit well, whatever that might mean. And that is most certainly not the bottom line. The bottom line is the war on the virus.

Any fools out there still think this is just a bad case of the flu?

A lot of people are going to die soon, it's just a question of how many now... and how can we stop our country becoming the next Italy or Spain!

No access for public? They've changed their approach so. Fergal Bowers will sort us out. He's been a real hero in all of this.

News segment from Swiss TV saying avoid ibuprofen as it seems to accelerate the effects of the virus. Stick to paracetamol is their advice.

Re Italy numbers. 21K out of a population of 60m is 0.03% of the population.

I don't know what that means or why I'm posting it. But it might put things into perspective.

Saying that, if we had that percentage we'd be at 1380 cases total.

Some posters on here seriously need a good dose of valium.... A small very small percentage of people will get this Virus and a very small percentage of those people unfortunately will die.

People should be contacting their local TDs urging them to put pressure on the Government to drastically upgrade the lockdown. We are all in deep deep ****e.
