We know this is serious but what do people think on boards?

I know some poll choices could be merged or there could be more options.
Please give me some advice if you can on that.

I think we are all into a road of the unknown.

More people dying of course, close people too.
    Stocks falling.
Extra money coming from governments, it's not bottomless.
    Job loss.
    It's scary.
    What do I think?

I think we have too many threads on covid 19

Can i edit that into the poll? or a mod!!

Definitely don't think it's over hyped by health experts, economy experts, etc. But extra anxiety is piled on by social media bullsh1tters and bandwagon jumpers.

If it doesn't turn into a massive crisis in this country you'll have geniuses saying "See? Told you it was a load of hysteria" when the very reason for it not going insane (like Italy) would be *because* of all the extensive measures to limit it.

I wish other threads were permitted outside of the CA ones because they can be a cluster****. So much rage.

How many clusterf*cks do you want?

Had a germ of an idea that might be an incentive for people to follow the advice regarding limiting the spread of cov19.

The objective of the govt is to avoid a peak of cases regarding hospitalisation etc.

Perhaps the govt could offer some kind of cash incentive to everyone who avoids catching cov19 for the next 30 days and increase this amount for every day after that.

I guess if we don't curb the spread, etc... :pac:

I think someone's suggestion on Feedback of a forum is good though - there are so many topics within the topic. Seems not to be a runner however.

Dunno if they'd have the funds for that with all the social welfare requirements.

Great thought. But impossible to police.
Technology would help but we don't have that infrastructure.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away.. .. ..

I learned that there's actually no point whatsoever in worrying about things that you can not control. Yes, you can take precautions to try and reduce your risks of catching things like COVID19, but it's a complete waste of energies worrying about the uncontrollable.

That would cause people to hide the fact they have it and result in more spreading of the virus

People would then pretend they didn't have it ! Go around spreading.
I was pleased when gathering s cancelled but now that I see it not being adhered to nite clubs, bars packed, kids in groups playing this is what has actually made me worried.
Living in a rural setting maybe it not as easy for me to understand how being around people in unavoidable in a city.

Yeah, that’s the thing. Because of the measures taken, we won’t know how many lives we saved because it can’t really be quantified so that gives people wiggle room to say they “weren’t wrong” about the reaction being hysterical.

    Needs another option:

"I will isolate myself/family till it's over. However am concerned/annoyed that a minority of selfish gobshites will not do their bit and keep spreading it, resulting in the rest of us having to suffer for longer"

Can a mod add that to the poll?

Is it ok to go to the shop or get takeaways if you distance yourself from people? I always wash my hands thoroughly anytime I go outside. I am self quarantined at the moment but need to go outside for a few minutes each day as I would go crazy if I didn’t.

I do too. I clean my hands before i get in car, distance myself if i have too go to a shop. Then clean my hands walking out of the shop. I don't touch my face, get home and clean as soon as i get in. Wallet included and keys.

I didn’t think about wallet and keys. I should probably wipe down my phone too!

Does the use of phones in an almost minute by minute basis render all of this hand washing null and void.

I'd say they are a cess pool of germs. Used on the toilet, hands are washed, but not the phone. Left in pockets, handbags etc.

I was thinking this long before covid 19 was a thing but did not change (and still have not changed) my habit.

I'm using disinfectant wipes on my phone constantly.

Or here's a mad thought, leave your phone at home when you go out. Or if you bring it with you in case of an actual good reason, rather than checking your whatsapp/texts/snapchat/[insert dopamine hit app here], keep it in your pocket. Contamination issue solved.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

This is not the case for the majority (myself included) so i think it should be highlighted.
