I agree it is a more complex situation that isn't as black and white as many are making it out to be with the benefit of highsight. I will though say that I really hate your line of argument. You have your own brain and should be able to make decisions which you feel are correct and not rely solely on the direction of others and then hide behind those peoples decision. It was pretty clear to anyone with half a brain that sticking thousands of people together in an enclosed space for a long period of time wasn't the most sensible personal choice a person could make in the current situation.

I walked through Temple Bar yesterday evening (didn’t go into any bar) and most of the voices I heard meant that only a small amount of them were Irish. Huge amounts of tourists still came here for Paddy’s week.

On the flip side, other bar areas such as Wexford Street, Harcourt Street and South William Street looked more like a Tuesday night.

I was reading there about the final moments of the corona virus, people get very lucid and they know they're about to drift off and die, asking to see or talk to their loved ones, then it's all over.
Hope its a painless ending and they're not suffering.

I think they should just start showing clips of how bad the situation is in Italian hospitals as broadly as possible. Play it on any public screens, billboards, TV ads, internet ads etc. And just say "Are you helping prevent us reach similar levels of crises?" or something along those lines

I made my decision, as did the many thousands of others who travelled, based on the advice received from the HSE and a government representative. There were no restrictions on travel and I, along with many others, were told it was safe to travel. I place trust in the experts, not in some idiots that post on boards who have nothing better to do than criticise.

The wolves would start looting and the army would have to be called in to "manage it" properly.
Its a terrible thing to have to balance education and personal responsibility

I honestly hope the army/ARU are given the go ahead to shoot anyone found looting or causing trouble during the lockdown if they get even a bit violent towards our public servants. Anyone who'd behave like that during the worst crises our country has seen in our lifetimes isn't worth **** to society and would be no loss

The army is spread to thin on the ground. That is not what the ARW/ARU are for. How the fupp did we let the Defence forces get into this mess? I am not just blaming Simon Coveney, this is going back 20 years since they started reorganising budgets and trimming back the reserves.

We asked because the Government are, you know, leaders of the country and are in a much better position to advise as opposed to, off the top of my head, a joe soap on an Internet forum. We spoke with the HSE and we assured that it was safe to travel and no plans were in place to cancel or restrict travel. That was Monday night. I’m old enough to be perfectly capable of making my own decision on where I travel to and as a precaution I sought advice from the experts who know more about what’s going on than anyone else in the country.

So spare me your faux outrage and cut the crap. Oh and in case you’re wondering, we had a great time. Plenty of good food was had, I backed a few winners and enjoyed myself. Which, by the sounds of things, you should learn to do.

They still do prison escorts for high profile cases.

When people around you, maybe even yourself, start losing elderly family members, or younger ones with health issues, you should think back about all the craic you and your friends had over in Cheltenham and about how it was all so worth it to be amongst the group of people who played a huge part in exacerbating the spreading of this virus which collapsed our healthcare system, ****ed up our medical professionals and put us into a recession

Its about an on organisation we need to assemble and organise in a very short period of time. There used to 15k reserves only 20 years ago now are there even 2k when we need them and the regulars are below 9k? What exactly did it cost to retain the RDF/FCA/Slua 20 years ago?
