Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Yeah but the don't have cheltenham or dancing with the stars so doesn't apply. Also germans don't know how to take it on the chin like the uk can.

Too early to tell. Wait another month or so and then we should have a better idea.

I believe we're absolutely riddled with it already. The measures we take today (or tomorrow) will have no impact on the curve for at least 7-14 days. We're going to be dropping like flies by the end of the week.
    .

You're absolutely right that current measures won't bear fruit for weeks, but there's no evidence that current identifications are worse than the global trend - on that basis assume infections are 30x the identified rate and you won't be far off, so getting on for 4,000 infected people now, or 0.1% of the population. But it will double and double and double again over the next few weeks. Only social distancing will keep this number as low as possible.

Would love to see the detail of the EU 30 day travel ban....just seen the tweet.
It looks like you can still travel within EU but not travel into EU if your are outside of it.

So... The priority shopping times are only for the elderly and not other risk groups? I have a spouse who is risk group (asthma) but better not send him to the shops as he'd scare everyone with his asthmatic coughing (which is not corona as he coughs all the time anyway because of asthma but who really knows without testing).

I was not going to go to get anything today but I just tasted the tap water I boiled yesterday and put in the fridge. The aftertaste makes me want to gargle with vodka.

    Seriously though, are you sure?

All new/recent cases are being reported in Hubai province, and, AFAIK, that province is on lock down?

IMO With reference to Hubai province, if they are easing up on the lockdown then it's just as likely that it's uninfected people now coming into contact with the virus source again after being locked up for how ever long. Which would mean they would need to gradually expose the general populous to the virus at a controlled rate.

I am not surprised that they would react like that shutting down a provance look what they gone through already

    Interesting read here...

    Translated:

More than 20 patients are treated today in all of Liguria with Tocilizumab, an experimental drug used according to the therapeutic protocol prepared by the Policlinico San Martino Hospital for the treatment of patients with Covid-19 pneumonia, with the go-ahead from the Liguria Region and Alisa's infectious disease task force. The protocol involves the use of Tocilizumab, an anti inteleukin 6 monoclonal antibody normally used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. Tocilizumab is used off-label, that is, out of the approved indications, taking advantage of the experience of the cytokine release syndrome with the use of new therapies with CarT cells. "This protocol - reads a note - was approved by the strategic direction of the Polyclinic and shared among the infectious disease specialists of the task force of the Ligurian health authority. Regione therefore accepted the proposal of donation from the Roche company which ensured a supply of the drug, the supply of which is managed by the Policlinico pharmacy. The first patients have been treated since Wednesday and to date more than 20 patients have been treated with Tacilizumab throughout Liguria with initial encouraging clinical results. The director of the Infectious Diseases Clinic of the Policlinico, Matteo Bassetti in collaboration with the hospital pharmacy, will collect the clinical data to evaluate the results in order to further therapeutic developments ".

    4. There are people for whom stocking up on toilet paper makes sense (my parents want to avoid public transport during the crisis so are going to walk to and from a local shop {instead of getting a bus to a bigger shop}. Toilet paper is very annoying to carry when doing a large shop).
    5. People are idiots.
    6. If my shop is out of toilet paper I will find a shop selling toilet paper and stockpile because I don't want hassle of looking for it.

    Why doesn't this happen everywhere?
