Heard of a pub in Sligo being caught with customers in drinking. Not sure whether there is much truth to it or not but, if it is what could be the implications for the pub?

Could get a fine or even worse their licence revoked. Either way someone on Sligo Co Council is going to get a back hander soon enough. Nice.

    Town or county ?

2 meters between tables and you reserve the table before you go in and stick to it. Pubs are not clubs and can be organised differently and imo safely.

And the toilets? One person at a time until the 2 metre apart queue outside the bog have piss streaming down their legs?

Today was the first day the vintners association came out into national media after the comments made yesterday and it's quite clear that the stance to government is going to be bail us out or you'll lose 2 billion in the exchequer returns as the hospitality sector cant stay closed until theres a vaccine.

As soon as the trend in other European countries becomes clear there will be pressure from all walks of society to do the same here, be it hospitality, retail whatever

Would you cave to pressure and brown envelopes? It's one thing acquiescing to a threat or a bribe if you're doing it for your own grubby purposes. It a horse of a different colour if your decision results in multiple deaths and the trail leads back to you.

What are you on about bribes for ? All they want is clear guidance and government support. The construction industry seem to have a direct line to government and are at least being included in talks.

I'm sure that's what the LVA would like

I understand how personal choice works.

I can understand people being annoyed about not being able to see their family, etc but the pub part might just be something that we have to get over for a while.

Most people go to the pub for company. A place to relax and socialise with friends. People are so quick to judge and condescend thinking that everyone who goes to the pub is a waster and an incurable alcoholic who would do better if they tried to improve themselves by finding a more well-heeled and creative outlet for their free time.

Well I would say this. Irish people are not recluses. They are a sociable breed. Conversation, jokes, gossip, debate, light-hearted insults, etc are part of Irish DNA. Many people who go to the pub have one or two drinks over the course of a couple of hours and enquire about "so-and-so", put the world to right, gloat about a sports team or complain about the weather. They could easily have those two or three drinks at home staring at the 4 walls. Not quite the same is it.

Nope, one drink and you’re a raging alcoholic. Something something domestic abuse something something mental health, etc.

Doubt there will be people with the money, pub's have screwed the customer for years. Add the smoking ban and now this pandemic, people will accommodate themselves in the comfort of their own home

If people are allowed to go to then then people will be allowed to work in them. You’re not making any point at all there really.

Not a hope in hell. It’s all good now because the sun is shining but drinking at home will get old very quick. They’ll be flying again in no time. What you should do is not go to them if you don’t like them, very simple.

The bar workers were protected from smokers. And that worked well.

How will their employers protect them from Covid.

They won’t be open until then as it wouldn’t be safe for customers either. Do you think they’re reopening next week or something?

Literally same thing applies to every business that requires face-to-face interaction and close contact.

What about the poor hairdressers? Many of them would be in premises a lot smaller than pubs too, so social distancing would be a bigger issue, and ergo a bigger possible expense

    Yeah I know this.

Up to the individual going forward as to how they risk assess.

Like many others I have observed the rules. And close contact with strangers is not on my radar now.

I'm sure they are thinking the same.

    Who are scurrying around?

    Who can't get it together?

    Who are pissing and moaning?

    Who are blaming others?

Who are a gang of whingeing bitches?

    Who?

US in the "so called" West.

America has morons roaming the steets because they cum when they hold a gun.

You have a dope in England running the UK from the ICU.

What ever happened to the MASSIVE threat from Russia and China and Iran and NK?

They just seem to get on with it and solve the problem.

They will do something like this over here I reckon.

There will be lots of bar staff walking around like midwives or surgeons with face masks hanging around their necks. For about 3-4 weeks bars will resemble a scene out of a medical drama like ER or Casualty.

Give it a month and staff will be given the option of wearing a trendy face mask. In fact home made masks could well become the tie or head band of the 21st century, these phucking pandemics come in 3's I read somewhere.

Pubs will be told to practice social distancing etc, this will last around 3-4 weeks until everyone realises that no one is really enforcing it and it will be back to normal again.

The other option is for the state to fork out around 40 billion euro into a small business style nama scheme. Not going to happen.

You won't catch me in a restaurant anyway. Kitchen staff breathing all over your food. Beef stroganoff ala covid coming up monsieur moron. Not so fast Robin Hood. It is going to be pints all the way for me. If a bit of sanitiser can take it off my hands I will be dousing myself in whiskey and porter to keep that phucking virus at bay.

When asked which I would open up first (with strict hygiene measures) I clearly said Pubs/Shops/Restaurants... The rest of society can crumble as long as I get a nice cool pint of G. xox
