What's wrong with getting a takeaway McDonald's from your car? Hardly any different from ordering a curry is it?

How did people manage to eat years ago when there was no Deli's or Chinese take-away's etc. What's wrong with cooking proper food at home knowing whats in at considerable less cost.

Because the mouth breathers who are so DESPERATE for a takeaway will still not keep their distance when out. Have a look at the video for Beshoffs in Howth yesterday.

There's nothing wrong with it but some people simply don't like it and they don't care about the cost impact of it.

McDonald should be boycotted, they sacked every single employee, revenue of 5.9b December 2019.

    B@stards.

People are complaining about McDonald's today.
They were safe and sound in their cars...

The people at Beshofs cis a whole other conversation and I agree with you on that situation.

Take a look at these clowns queuing up in their cars to get a F***ing Big Mac. https://imgur.com/a/kQnbTs4

What type of wet brain thinks it’s a good idea to leave the house during a time like this to get a McFlurry. A friend of mine works in a different McDonalds and they had to finish normal service at 3pm to work on the orders from the drive thru.

There really is a dumbing down of society. Learn to book an egg ffs. Not to mention that I don’t want anyone handling or sneezing on my food at the moment. Everything I eat now is done in house.

Was the same in Drogheda today, too. I often feel like I have nothing going on in my life and I'm a bit of a boring person.

Then I see people like those, and I feel a lot better about myself.

At least they're in their cars.

In Supermacs O'Connell St last night lots of people sitting inside eating.

Similar scenes at Carrickmines and Nutgrove. A bit weird alright, but they were in their cars, not doing anyone any harm.

Apart from the McDonald's employee, who then went on to serve the other idiots

Some people can't/won't cook and live a life of takeaways. Parents giving their children Deli hot food before school, a lunch of chocolate and taytos and a Macdonalds then for their dinner.
It's these same parents that are panic buying as they will have major doses of the trots when their diet will be improving as they will have to cook.

I went for McDonald's today on my way home as a treat, because I know I won't have one for god knows how long (we go into lockdown in NZ tomorrow). I don't even eat McDonald's that much. I used the contactless kiosk to order my meal, stood two metres away from everyone while I waited and I didn't even lick the McDonald's employee when they left my bag up on the counter for me to take.

I can't see the problem with people going to the drive thru. Just because it's not your thing doesn't make everyone else a b*llox.

The bottomfeeders will simply get ready meals and frozen food. I wouldn't expect them to turn into Masterchef overnight.

I don't think McDonalds closing has as much to do with their customers as it does with their own staff.
Given the close proximity to each other, it would be very hard to enforce the 2m gap between employees in their food prep areas, and still serve the food in the same timeframe they usually do.

If one employee contracts the virus, they would all get it pretty quickly given that they're working on top of each other.

Time for people of Ireland to do a bit of cooking themselves

Its a pity people's brain cells dont replicate as fast as this virus. We must surely have a disproportionate amount of low IQ people in this country.

I will admit that once I heard they were closing I was tempted, but it would mean leaving the house and I couldn't be added doing that

Those kiosks are riddled with bacteria, there was a study on it last year

Something tells me some of that que just thinks they are in some traffic and don’t realise some are queuing to get into McDonald’s.

There is plenty of cheap rubbish convenience food full of sugar and salt and fat in the supermarkets. They’ll just buy that instead.
Me little angles Drake and Lizzo will be sitting in front of the telly watching Netflix eating 25c Aldi chicken noodles dosed with grated cheese for the next 12 weeks.

It’s basically traffic on a road, most probably not heading for the drive thru at all, just been slowed down by the ones who are

I dunno I could see it. Teenagers, young people in the 20s are already left with nothing to do or no place to go right now. It's 'something to do' when everything else is closed.

No harm in it really, it's not like those clowns lining the streets of Howth for a bag of chips.

Good on you. By not licking people you will definitely help slow the spread of covid19.

That video is one of the main routes into Tralee. Quiet possible they are just stuck in traffic.

Thanks! So can i drive more than 2km to get it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21 Unicorn55

Yes. The 2km is for exercise.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 112 ✭✭CaoinDory

Getting a meal is considered essential so you are allowed to drive to get it.

The 2k relates to physical exercise!

There are a number of petrol stations open in my locality, all apart from one have closed the Deli counter. This one has three staff members working behind the deli counter so no chance of them social distancing and the area between the counter and the customers is quite small also.

I know food businesses can be open to provide deliveries but surely a deli counter in a petrol station is pushing that requirement.

you are allowed out to collect takeaway food, so yes, one would assume the preparation of food to takeaway is allowed.

Whether or not you trust that the deli-worker is taking all precautions though, is on you

Its more the overall setup I don't trust - its a cramped space at the best of times. I actually feel sorry for the deli workers being exposed to that environment too.

Some of my partners friends are still going to a one in one exercise and health class. The owner contacted all her customers individually to tell them that they’ll do this privately so they won’t lose on their weight loss progress but really it’s about her continuing to get paid. Obviously I’m rightly pissed off about this and I’ve told her all of her friends are barred from the house for remainder of the year. She actually agrees with me too as she’s also rightly pissed off as we’ve been social distancing since mid February,

I know food businesses can be open to provide deliveries but surely a deli counter in a petrol station is pushing that requirement.

Many healthcare professionals will need quick easy made food , so I think it is important that Delis and takeways remain open - but any I have seen have been able and are practicing social distancing.
