Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

FTTC - Full ports?

I'm trying to order fibre after moving to a rental house. Eir took my order and then a week later said the ports are full and I'm on a waiting list to wait for someone else to disconnect. They also said Eir are allocated a certain of ports by OpenEir which I took to imply, I should try other operators.
Obviously, life not easy with no Internet so I contacted Sky who also took my order but now another week later have come back and said the ports are full too.
Is it worth trying another provider, but is it a waste of time as they both seem happy to take the order but the problem comes up when the engineer visits the cabinet. Or do the providers each get their own allocated ports? I could try Vodafone, or another.

Wrong, the cab has a fixed number of ports. If a cab serving 240 houses has 192 ports then after a while it fills up. If demand is way over supply an extension can be added, if its a little over supply itll be left as is. Line operators all use the same pool for a given street/estate/area.

Wait until you see moving vans in the locality and order again quickly.

Thanks, that's interesting. Is 200 odd roughly how many ports are in cabinet? Sounds unlikely that anyone would be moving out these days, but with 200 and not 20 or so, Id guess I've a higher chance there wil be someone going soon.
