Honestly, you just go around boards.ie foaming at the mouth, it can't be healthy.

Calling out **** ups by the government is allowed. They shouldn't be brushed under the carpet because it hurts someone's political sensitivities. This is far more important than politics.

More important than politics, yet no opposition party has criticised the response to date whilst you accuse people of being FG shills if they disagree with you?

It's nifty the way you are trying to spin this.

    Nifty, indeed.

And what's been done about it? Why haven't flights been cancelled? Why aren't fg putting pressure on the dup to cooperate publically? What exactly have fg been doing for the past few months?

Introducing a strategy of letting old people die and think that'll fix it. Fly off to America in the middle of a global pandemic. Get infected with the virus because not adhering to social distancing when meeting someone who has the virus.

    They are a ****ing joke.

The public are generally a bunch of arseholes.

The government can't be blamed for everything.

Why haven't fg blocked flights coming in here? Why are they letting infected people roam free?

This is fg's responsibility. I don't care if that hurts your feelings.

Everyone is ignoring Leo flying off to America, he wasn't exactly sending the right signals was he?

Alot of people are wondering about the economics of spending 6bn, losing bns in tax, losing 400k jobs etc just to try and prevent deaths of already unwell people.

So it's strange we have posters on here saying we have gone for the laissez faire 'let them die' herd immunity approach.

That was fg's original thought, let the old people die and we'll save the economy. The reality is and will be, a lot of people will die and the economy will be ****ed. But fg have done a great job.

He returned on the 12th March.

The government can do no more than it currently is. We dont have an army big enough to enforce a shutdown. We are depending on the public doing what they are told. Which they wont.

    A disgrace really.

I have never ever called someone a shill because of their allegiance to (or simply lack of disagreement with) a particular party. It's a tactic I find pretty vile actually.

However... this poster is so obsessed and longing for things they can say the government did wrong (classily exploiting the possible infection of an FG member ) that they are surely at least a staunch supporter of another party (probably SF given their anti British sentiment).

Oh yeah, it's the lowly peasant's fault. Not those who were meant to be in charge who acted too late and didn't go far enough, not at all.

There is actual proof in the virus numbers here that the government acted correctly in terms of when they started the closures.

They're still letting flights in from countries riddled with this. So they didn't act correctly and they still aren't!

Blaming the public won't cut it.

When this virus knocks on your door and it spreads further, people will change their tune. Patting the government on the back won't be happening then!

Why wouldn't I? You can say personal responsibility is a thing and still face up to the reality that those in charge screwed up big time. They're not mutually exclusive.

That was their strategy remember? To let the old and the sick die and look after the economy. What a disastrous strategy that failed miserably.

    No it wasnt.

Up north it was under SFDUP.

It was! Their aim was to save the economy and accept that old and sick people had to die to achieve that. Was a disgusting and idiotic plan from the start and it has backfired on them and all of us. Wait till these numbers explode! People won't be as forgiving when they see their loved ones dying.

Give us a list of countries that acted differently.

I couldn't give a sh1t what other countries did or didn't do. Obviously, next door got it horribly wrong and others got it right.

For a small island like ours, we started in a far superior position to most. Somehow those in charge managed to screw it up.

    But they have.

It's up to the people to follow instructions.

The government has clearly stated that if instruction isn't followed they will have to introduce more draconian laws.

Always blaming someone else, ff were the same. Can they make a decision by themselves? If they were doing their jobs properly, they would have put the lives of Irish people first. They were too busy planning trips abroad.

    FG only have 35 seats.

Besides the Dail have backed all FG legislation so far. Nobody has proposed any other legislation.

The other parties have run away from government to save their own fat asses.

You wind your neck in and quit making **** up

We also had Ebola, H1N1 and SARS over the last 15 years or so. Are you going to lock down the ports and airports for months or years at a time every time one of these shows up? You'll be the first one moaning that FDI won't come here anymore and that Irish citizens can't get produce or medicine

What has that got to do with it?

fg have been asleep at the wheel, it doesn't mean that the others haven't been asleep in the back!

It's too late now to stop the large number of deaths coming. It's not too late to stop it increasing further. It's time those in charge woke up, got up off their lazy arses and actually put some structure in place to tackle this.

Not the first time someone's made something up completely out of thin air.

There's was a choice to be made. fg chose people dying in an attempt to save the economy. It has failed spectacularly. People are going to die in large numbers and the economy will collapse.

Have you got a single verifiable quote to show that herd immunity was EVER the FG strategy?
