Anybody know if the Market/Car Boot Sale is still on at the Hunting Ground Bar & Restaurant (carpark), Dublin Road, Athy or has it stopped due to Covid-19 epidemic?
    Thanks. :)

Hopefully the answer is “no”. Who in their right mind would want to attend or participate?

In fairness the question was asked by a Brexiteer going by the .sig

I am a 'brexiteer' as it happens but that is unrelated to my question as I have been self isolating for about a month now. I have a site https://collectireland.com/ where I dispense information about what's on around the country and I can't raise anybody at the Athy sale i.e emails undelivered etc. :)

It sounds like you've watched too much Antiques Roadshow.

Who would consider the usefulness of participation of the largest economy in the world when Auntie Nora's found a delightful bit of Wedgwood in the attic and brought it to a royal country pile to give the peasants a look.

Why would a brexiteer be asking about a Saturday fair in Ireland?

    Seriously?

Have you been living in a bubble while "self isolating"?

When I originally asked the question some markets were still operating especially in NI. As I said, I operate an information site and like to get it right - if you had bothered to look at the link instead of trying to be smart you might have noticed that. Incidentally, still can't raise anybody at Athy and despite all the smart jibes one here nobody seems to know.

All gatherings of more than two people not from the same household are banned.

What would you read from that?

To answer your question that the rest of the high horse brigade seem unable to do, yes the market is still running(or was up to 2 weeks ago). New people are running it so probably why you can't get a reply. I'll try get you A number when everything gets back to normal.

My friend occasionally has a stall there.

The OPs question was related to the market opening during covid 19 restrictions.

I already covered this in post .8. and my original post was 13 days ago and things have been changing almost hourly since then. I was not suggesting that people should visit Athy Market during the Covid-19 epidemic - just trying to get factual information.
