As one of the few yet to make a prediction, I better get to it. I plan to run as honest a course as possible, but I could bail out with a downhill stretch if things are going badly.

I wish I was in a position to confidently predict a time under 17:00, but that's hard to see. And if it does happen, it'll be praise be to Nike.

Get well soon, OOnegative. Thanks for organising and sorry to hear of your plight.

Also sad state of affairs that I couldn't beat you even if my whole 5k was downhill

Joined late so amn't on the list above but F35-39. No danger of me winning anything but nice to have something to aim for! Gonna try for 26:30, if I can get close to that I'll be happy.

    18:53 PB

Pretty pleased with that!! Now, monster breakfast time...

Ok, that's me disqualified. Stopped the watch .1 of a mile too early.
Ran it in 18:41 but probably would have ended with a 19:05 if I wasn't such a pleb.

DNF for me. Problems with my calf for the last few weeks, I was in denial all week, warmed up, calf felt crap. plan was to go out hard and if calf felt fooked to just jog and finish the 5k.

Felt great for the 1st k, 2nd k was really good , a bit of pain from the calf but manageable. 1/2 way in 8.26 with more downhill to come , piece a piss, that was it, calf said enough so had to stop, tried to start again at a jog but was too near the house so walked home.
Delighted with the pace , just need to nothing for a week and will be back.

    Unofficial PB of 22:18

That was tough. Thanks for organising.

17:59 for me. Very pleased as I really had no idea where I was in terms of speed. Only 2 seconds off PB.

Legs were very tired after second of three laps but they held up in the end. I was wrecked for the last 400m, so I definitely gave it my all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,582 ✭✭✭Swashbuckler

18.06 for me. Suffered the 5k pain which in hindsight is great.

Lost the sub 18 with overly conservative second and third km.

Must do a race report for the training log. Couple of big performances already on strava this morning! Well done everyone and cheers again B.

    22:22.

Came in under predicted time, but I'm so unfit..... :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 606 ✭✭✭Slow_Runner

20:38 for me. Underestimated how tough it is when on ur own. Was iffy about starting as calf was very tight for last couple of days but went ahead and would bail if it acted up.
Just didn't have a sub 20 in me, struggled after 1 mile and the lactic acid in the legs for last 500m was unreal, without anyone to try and focus on I couldn't push through the 5k pain.
Ah well, a good honest time trial, well done all and best of luck to those yet to run

Oh and registration and number pick up was very sparse, no toilets at start area, no corrals, total bedlam :) !

    18:20 for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,025 ✭✭✭Itziger

18:36 for me. A small bit disappointed tbh. Splits were 3.40, 3.40, 3.55, 3.41, 3.39. That fooking 3rd km must have been wrong!!!

All in all though, good fun and a decent workout. And a few bob raised for charity.

Are we taking the activity time or the 5Km time from Strava? Very little in the difference I know but wanted to check.

20:37 for me. Gave it everything i had but the lack of sessions and long runs told a story. Have a lot of work to do to get below 20 in 2020...

Anyway really enjoyed it and a big thanks to Oonegative for organising.

Interesting to see the final league table tomorrow.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,591 ✭✭✭py

22:14 which is a ~20 second PB. Really happy with that after just coming back from injury and eating/drinking myself into oblivion during this lockdown.

Well done to all, some great results in thus far.

Thanks for organizing OOnegative. Looking forward to the next one. :)

16.56 for me -over the moon with that. Cheers B thanks for organising and hope you are on the mend. I really enjoyed this and the charity side was a great idea too.I had 2 nights off the booze which is also a record for me since lockdown. It wont be 3 though.

I was able to get into race mode and picked a route i knew well which helped alot. I sprinted the last 200 metres and I was absolutely dead on my feet after.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,242 ✭✭✭crisco10

18:33 on the watch for me. Unofficial PB so delighted.

I usually rely on being dragged along in races so was curious how is do on my own. Turns out not too bad. Even enough splits too 3.41; 3.48; 3.44; 3.42; 3.37.

I did a 3 x 1 mile session 10 days ago. Must tally to see how close that was as a predictor.

Thanks a million for organising. Genuinely feels like a race day on here and on Strava.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,524 ✭✭✭✭Murph_D

21:03. Sounds slow but a good honest run and the course wasn’t easy with a mostly uphill first half. Silver lining was a downhill mile 3 but never going to get all the time back. Can’t say I enjoyed it and the last 200m was gruesome. As predicted based on last week’s club mile TT, so can’t complain.

Well done Barry - get well. Donation donated.

Way off where I used to be, way off where I’d like to be, but probably where I deserve to be. Optimistically estimated 19:20 but was holding on at the end for 19:55.

Also need to add disclaimer that total elapsed time was 20:23- saw a lady a couple of hundred metres ahead with a buggy and then saw a teddy bear in front of me on the path, so I stopped, picked it up, caught her up and gave it back. May mean my time doesn’t count? Either way, thanks to Oonegative for organising and to everyone e for keeping me semi motivated during this weird period. Off to eat food and collect my Good Samaritan award 😉

20:36 for me! Slower than my prediction time but I am honestly thrilled with it. It's an unofficial PB for me. There's a few things i could have done differently but will learn for next time. Mentally & physically tough doing it alone so well done to everyone who goes out & completes it today :)

The lycra shorts that fit perfectly for my last race were a bit on the snug side haha time to focus on my eating habits now I think

Really enjoying seeing all the results come in! Cheers B for organising and donations made, also donated to Pieta House!

My 'Activity' time included wheezing on my knees after an official 3.11m and the subsequent cool down. So to comply I've put screen shots from my garmin onto Strava for you. If not good enough, no worries.

I set the garmin 'distance target' to 5k but the clock kept going even when I finished the target. I had a 5k TT set up as a workout but forgot to remove the warm up and cool down segments.

Thanks again for organising this. Wonderful community we have here.

I was never going to officially join this. But thought... I'll do it myself and not tell anyone. So I dropped a few quid to the charity the other day, and gave it a sneaky go this morn.

My 5k loop takes me 38 mins (I know :o ). The last few days I've tried it...come home wrecked and thought..feck it...that's all I can do. The dog ate my earphones and I thought ah sh*t will I bother?

But sure...no one will know and I've to run any way, so I may aswell stick to the plan. I abstained from the beer last night and got up early this morn. My plan was to try to keep it at 12 min per mile, or under if you feel ok (yeah I know :o ) and I might surprise myself. It was so hard...I nearly gave up at Womble Hill and a I had to pass a woman with a buggy :o . There were loads of runners out and I gave them sneaky looks to see if they were doing the TT too :D

I had planned at the end to pick a point ahead for the finish line and peg it to it, but by then I was counting in my head until the pain was over and just trying to hold it together without dying :o

So it ended up being 35.42. Nothing official because I didn't sign up so it's all pointless but I'm delighted :D and feel like sharing it.

Thanks Oneg for getting me moving would never have tried it otherwise. Hope you're not suffering too much and are better soon!

21.56 for me, fair bit quicker than my actual 5k PB of 22.40. Bizarrely, I think I run better without people around me! I'm buzzing after it though as if it was an actual race morning, despite thinking halfway through that I never want to run a 5k ever again :)

Thanks for getting it together Ooneg!
Made the donation the other day :)

16:50 for me, left quad issues for last 4ks so that was first hard session in a mth... It HURT! Happy enough, thought I may be closer to 16:30 as doing a lot on the turbo but not to be. Wore Nike Pegasus Turbo's. Let's hope the body holds up now after that blow out.
Thanks for organising, great seeing all the individual efforts this morning in the strava group.
Now off to the cycling ireland zwift race!

Reality check for me: 21:42. I'd chosen a challenging course but I was still hoping to at least sneak in under 21'. Felt great during the warm up but I was way off pace from the start: had planned to set off at 6:30 pace for the first half mile (on the flat) but I only managed to get to 6:54 pace. Managed to keep that pace going on the long uphill stretch, then struggled during a tougher than expected middle mile (7:13). Recovered somewhat as the course turned kinder and managed a slightly faster 3rd mile in 6:48 before straining for the line. Still, pleased with the honest effort if not necessarily the time, and have to say it felt like I wouldn't have been able to go any faster today even in a race setting.

Well done to everybody who took part and thanks again to B for organising the event.

When is the next one in the series? :)

17:27 for me. Rather than say everything went wrong, I'll say that not a lot went right :) beautiful morning though and it reminded me that it's great to be part of this little alcove of the internet/running community. Looking forward to the 10 Mile TT next month already ;)

22:55 for me and i'm delighted with that. Admittedly my course was a bit softer than i realised with a net loss - not that it felt soft when i was running it. I'll have to run it in reverse next time :p PB is 22:42 and i'm delighted that I'm not a million miles away from that. I wasn't going to do for most of the week as it hasn't been a great week on a few levels but in the end i decided if nothing else it would give me a benchmark to improve on.... so now i have my benchmark

Well done everyone. I'm looking forward to catching up on Strava tonight with a G&T in one hand :)

Thanks a million B for organising this event. I hope you're feeling much better x

19:44 on the treadmill, and retrospectively I know I could have gone a good bit faster. Unfortunately, I'm 100% sure the same effort would not translate into a 19:44 on the roads.
