I'm really sorry folks but I just can't think of what it is. Nothing matches all the words so I'm going to play it safe and

    Pass

I can think of a few that match bomb, shock and sea, but encapsulate and protection are thorns in my side. I'll stick with a pass. Sorry folks.

Valid Clues: Sky; cockcrow; Eastwardly; unset

Ok sorry I'm late folks, had to do an essentials run at lunchtime and had actual work to do this afternoon to keep up the working from home pretense.

I LOVE the unset clue. I think I may use that in future to describe what I hope the word is here:

    Guess: Sunrise

That was a tough one, aaron. In hindsight, I wonder if "sneaker" or "trainers" by one of us would have helped. I went for race.

    Scores after Round 3:

    Team Name Round 3
    The A Team 1
    Homer's Trigger-Happy Rebels and Mollywood Stars 3
Four Men and a Lady 2

Coming in from the rear -1

Molly helping her team out to a lead but it can all change very quickly

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,941 ✭✭✭osh

Yeah it would have helped I reckon. I thought someone else might go that way and didn’t want to duplicate. Should have just gone Nike or something in hindsight.

Good job Molly. I went with Eastwardly for that one, again hoping that alongside the other clues it would make sense.

I also debated using Fiddler for that one, but it would've really relied on you having a good knowledge of musical theatre, so decided not to chance it.

I probably would have said 'bean' as my word if I were giving out clues, but hey, that's easy to say in retrospect

Phew, was worried about sunrise. I thought 'morning' and 'dawn' might be duplicates, so I went with 'sky' but then regretted it after as it seemed too vague.

It was only after submitting that I thought of 'tequila' - wish that had been my clue now!

    Well done again Molly.

He prefers it when he gets two clues

    Valid Clues: Golf; Joy

So here is my though process - "Kim", there is a golfer called Kim and Kim Joy I think was a contestant on Bake Off. That seems unlikely.

Perhaps golf is something to do with cars but I can't really link joy to that. I can't link course to joy.

So I'm going to go with

    happy

I hope golf is a link to happy gilmore and joy is another word for happy. I hope gilmore was the duplicate clue.

I fear I'm wrong and if so, apologies folks.

    So...

Wrist joint, wrist connects to the palm (that's the one I'm a bit sketchy about), a bracelet is worn on the wrist, so too a watch strap...

    Yeah, guess WRIST

Its probably what I would have gone for too in fairness. I have no idea where golf came out of, like no idea.

If I told you jockey was the clue you missed out on what would you guess?

Ooph, I'd go with jump then I think. Maybe champion, but jump for joy is stronger than joy at being champion.

Sorry Barney. That was tricky. Mine was joy. Trying to avoid obvious clues makes this so difficult. I was between joy and knight.

At that's unfortunate. I wouldn't have gotten it even with jockey. Golf threw me and I wasn't going to get rider from golf, although I like the link to the Ryder Cup.

Happy was a good guess given the two words

Really not much to clue for rider

Lol probably safe enough. Whilst I do enjoy a good musical, I wouldn't be overly familiar with a lot of them.

Just want to double check that the clues are all correct? And spelt correctly? Nothing left out?

Never mind. It just clicked with me!

    Guess: Prize

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 52,313 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

That clue 'sur' should probably not be allowed tbh.
    4) The clue may not contain a significant component of the secret word, even if the root is different. Grass is not a valid clue for "grasshopper," and grasshopper is not a valid clue for "grass."

Well Big Sur is a name of a place and names of places have been allowed previously...

Anyway, I don't care. Well done Molly! My clue was Jackpot for that one.
