To be fair if one of the clues had been museum, historical, or library, combined with 3 of the existing clues, you could get to Archive.

Not the easiest of words, but far from impossible.

If someone wanted to be a bit more outside the box, throw something like Onion in the mix... because... Onions... Chives... Archives... a stretch definitely, but could've worked.

No, and as guesser it'd be nearly impossible to work back from onions as a clue, to archive. I know I certainly couldn't. There'd be too many directions you could go with onions.
