Not me, you'd have to ask the poster.

I don't see why the form only asks for the last day worked, if what's really relevant is the date of the last payment. These will almost always be two different dates. The vast majority of people will have done exactly as Galway20188 did and apply as soon as their work finished, and fill in the last date worked in the space on the form that asks for the last date worked. Surely if what Galway20188 did was incorrect, then a huge number of claims in general would be getting rejected?

The form says ‘the last date you worked/were paid to’

Of course the state isn’t going to pay people while they are also receiving a wage.

Don't remember seeing that on the on line form?

But you were paid in full up to the 26th?

I think I can understand the issue here as some of our employees are asking us about it now for this current week. So we have paid our employees up until the 29th March and from that date they will need to apply for pup. However this payment will only be paid to them this coming Friday 3rd April. We pay on fortnightly basis and they are paid until the previous Sunday. So although they need to now apply for pup from 30/03-05/04, there will be a payment coming in on 4th April which is for the period 16th-29th March. They are concerned that if they wait until we'll say, the 4th April to apply then they will not receive that payment until at least the following week, if you get me?!

You say “of course” but clearly some people thought they could get their week/fortnight in hand and the €350.

No, that’s not what I thought or was planning to do. I just filled the online form in when I was told that I was going to be temporarily laid off, once the lockdown was announced (for the industry that I’m in) Friday night.

The online form/questionnaire that you can fill in online did say, last date of work. Which for me was the 27/04. So I put that in.

I’m not looking for an extra €350 that I’m not entitled to, as you are suggesting in that post.

I now understand the confusion and will re-apply on Saturday now and change the date to the 03/04. I’m sure myself and Galway weren’t the only people that this caught out.

    Hi guys

I have a headache cus of all of this and I'm not sure what I'm entitled to or not so I'm asking for somene to make it clear for me. So I'm employed in one of retail shops on a full time. It got closed but employer kept us on 70% of our net sallary, which in general was a minimum, and now it's way bellow minimum, its 257€ p/w. After I pay for my rent, I have about 200 euros left for a full month for a food and all needs. Please tell me that I'm entitled for some additional help from government otherwise I can choose between be on the street or stop paying a rent so whatever it happens after that...? 😒 Thank you

I'm not sure on this one but you might be entitled to the short time hours payment. So if he's paying you for 2/3 days work, you can claim for the other 2/3 days you're not working. You will need employer to fill out a form and a letter from them saying that your hours have been reduced.

That's not the online form , I work/worked on a busy building site cork city and I know a good few lads who filled out the form online and we all put down the date we finished work last Friday we get paid tmw from work with no payment of 350

Next week we hope to get the 350 and have no payment from work

I wonder is the online form and the postage form worded slightly different

I don't think that's fair, people are filling in the form as best they can.

I do think it's crazy that if two people are laid off on the 18th, one gets paid on the 20th and one on the 27th, the former gets an extra €350 even though both people are in the same situation with the same financial pressures.

I used to work for a company (non essential retail) that paid wages with a significant delay. So salaries for the period 13th March to 12th April would be paid on 19th April. If that's still the case those employees would be screwed, having to wait a whole month to apply for the benefit just because they're expecting a few days worth of payment in mid/late April. That doesn't make sense to me.

Yeah it definitely is, I know the online form doesn’t say date when last paid. It’s worded, date when last worked.

I don't understand though - you worked up till the 27/03. You are being paid on the 03/04 for, I assume, work up to and including the 27/03. So your job won't be paying you for the days in between but the government now will is my understanding?

If your payroll was 6 monthly you'd get nothing? :)

Unsure where my wife and I stand during all this. Our daughter would have been in creche, but now the 2 of us are having to work half a week each to try keep up with our work, while the other half we're minding our daughter. Both our take home pays will end up taking a ~50% hit. We can offset this somewhat by using holiday days, but 1) there's only so many holiday days at our disposal and 2) when this is all over we'll likely be burnt out and need a damn holiday

TLDR: We've had to tell our employers we can only work 50% of the time in order to mind our daughter since we no longer have creche available to us.

    Is the payment backdated?

I finished up on site last friday 27th. I filled out the online form on Sunday after being told the job was now closed indefinitely.
I received my wages this morning for last week.

If the covid payment doesn't get processed for 2 weeks do you receive 3 weeks payment the following week or is it just the €350 from when your claim is first processed?

    Thank you.

Hi Barry, thanks for this. I actually posted again once I got through to the helpline. I was told I'm not eligible for the covid payment due to my one remaining client, and to apply for jobseekers. I pointed out that as a self employed person I wouldn't fulfil the criteria for jobseekers anyway and the response was "it's your choice what you do." I agree that this goes against the spirit of the legislation and it leaves people like us in a precarious position.

Yes it's all a bit up in the air and quite difficult I think to frame a set of criteria for self employed/ sole traders as situations vary so widely. However you have to assume that the intent of the government is that people should draw this payment for as short a time as possible. The way I understand it is that the intent is that any sole trader who has lost the large majority of their sales should be able to tick over and kick start again as soon as possible and sign off from the support payment.

Not going to be backdated as I understand.

I sent in application on Monday 16th, last day of work and paid 13th March

No payment yet, told me wait till next week, posted 1st form, did online wednesday just gone, and called,

told wait till next week to see If i receive it then, I asked about back dating, as I've already missed two weeks wages
if I dont receive payment next week thats three weeks, potential I could miss out on a month, lady said 12 weeks from 1st payment, not much good to me as I've not received a wage in 3 weeks now

From what I've seen that poster has supplied a lot of good information, and seems very knowledgeable on SW issues. And s/he's doing it for free.

Any frustration experienced shouldn't be directed at them.

I am not the one frustrated if you look at the posts , I like a lot of other people filled out the online form just as it was asked he/she is getting frustrated as people didn't put down last day you are paid until but that's not what we were asked

If I get paid next Tuesday I will not have any week without money so that's the way it should be

Anyone have a number to contact if they have received application?

Also what about pensioners ? Are they able to claim anything else apart from €230 a week payment.

    Thanks

I was put on short time at work, been working 40hrs reduced to 20, was told to fill out UP1 form, which from my understanding, if I'm "eligible", will get me 83 euro a week? At this rate I'm thinking I'll just go for in lidl or aldi, it's not worth filling out papers and hoping for the government to kindly give me 80 euro a week if I'm eligible... This wouldn't even be 30% of what I'll get a week from my employer working half time. Girlfriends claim for covid payment was rejected because she was not employed on or after 6/03 even though she was, she was on sick leave from 25/02 and was meant to come back to work on 25/03 but obviously couldn't

I don't think I've received the correct rate of Illness benefit, while isolating at the GP's request. Can I check this online, or do I call. What is the best number to call?

They said after it's all over, they will review everyone's claim.

People thinking that money is theirs to keep will be in for a rude awakening.

Don't fall on the wrong side of Revenue.

They always win and get what is owed to them.
