Boardsies Greatest Cover Version

Welcome to Boardsies decide, the greatest cover version song ever....

There are a lot of great cover versions which I'm sure we are not even aware are cover versions, now let's see which really is the greatest.

Criteria.

The song must be considered a cover version and not just a remix or sample. E.G. I'll be missing you, by P. Diddy would not qualify.
The song must have be released as a single, the original and the nominated song.

EDIT...the original recording can be an album track or b side.

Seems thems the rules. Original didn't need to be a single, cover did. A shame, some of my favourite covers weren't singles. I submitted 6.

Yeah, this checking whether a song was a single is a bit of a pain in the hoop..

However, since there is outcry, we can change the rule to include album tracks.

Nah, I'll stick with what I've given, I ain't no big baby like some other people 'round here...

I liked the rules as they were anyway. Hope all the album tracks that weren't released as singles get knocked out straight away.

Agreed - the singles rule should ensure everyone knows the songs and avoid me us getting in a strop when people vote against songs because they don't know them

And if you want to show off your good taste you should be playing walrus

Thats pretty much why I had the rule, so we would all be familiar with the songs.

32 songs so far, I would like to reach at least 64 before starting. Thanks for all submissions so far.

I'll keep mine as they are also. They were released as singles.
I totally understand the logic, and agree with it.

No point in lauding some obscure band's EP cover of another obscure band's B-side as the greatest cover ever, kills any discussion or interaction.

Hopefully my choices are known to most/all!

Actually that's a fair point. I was thinking of this more walrussy and less like the best biscuit type of thread. I retract my whingey statement. You were correct with your rules Kolido. Stick to your guns!
