If there's a stampede, people will fall and get trampled over, people will be crushed, people will get stuck in the doorways trying to get out and many, many people will die.

There's a class of OAP which will take no heed of anyone or anything. It's a "I survived the war, I won't be beaten by this" mentality. They think they are being defiant rather than stupid.
