Because all countries are fighting for the same resources.

When the HSE goes to sign contracts it is competing against every other country.

It seems strange to me that they didn't know a few weeks ago and maybe be asking for donations from other businesses then rather than waiting until they are running out.

We are looking at Italy we knew this was happening weeks ago.

    Their life, their choice.

As long as they don't endanger others more than any other category would, butt out.

Looks like Slovenia is now making it mandatory to wear masks: https://www.outlookindia.com/newsscroll/slovenia-imposes-tougher-restrictions-to-contain-virus/1784488

Wondering if they actually have enough for everyone and how they might have achieved that.

The laissez faire approach. No one knows where all this is going to end up but society will not willingly abandon their vulnerable loved ones.

New research shows that COVID 19 may be years old, and was quietly circulating throughout the world for a long time, but was not dangerous to humans yet . As a result of gradual evolutionary changes over years or perhaps decades, the virus eventually gained the ability to spread from human to human and cause serious, often life-threatening disease, which then caused it to be detected just this year in Wuhan. So China may not even be at fault for the release of the virus across the world.

How are staff begging for equipment at this stage. They have had weeks to plan and buy the gear. What the **** are they doing?

    It's so sad.

Absolute horse manure. If there was nothing unusual then why are there dead bodies on floors in hospitals in Italy or Spain. Miltary trucks stacked with coffins and crematoriums operating at full capacity.

Awesome, went out and got a good video of it, my first time seeing it, you'd never think it was way out over the Atlantic.

On your instructions as to how to insert a picture, I'm on a mobile not a PC or laptop.
Not that it makes any difference to you.

And yes he is trying to serve his ego, why promote tweets constantly ??

I agree they need more ppe dont think you'll find anyone who doesn't.

Anyway enough on paddy, he doesn't deserve more airtime. Plus anyone who disagrees with you is usually called a spin bot etc so not even bothered trying to even form a discussion tonight.

Remind them that this doesn't discriminate. Isolation, closed casket and no funeral.

    I hope they stay safe.

no one really knows right now. it's almost certainly the case that some people die with the virus and not because of it. but what these conspiracy people repeatedly fail to explain is the massive overloading of ICU beds and hospitals because of this virus. if everything was business as usual (coronavirus was just another mostly harmless cold variant) then we wouldn't have this situation repeated in multiple countries.

Well, 'Corona' is an alcoholic beverage for a start so it would be somewhat surprising and slightly disturbing if 1,000 people had died of consuming that in the previous couple of weeks.

Took this image a couple of nights back. Thought i’d post it so people might pause for a second. Powers off here for the moment, so i took a look outside. Venus and the moon look amazing in the western sky night now. Also it kind of shows the stars, planets, galaxies etc continue to do their own thing utterly indifferent to our present travails. Nature is the coldest of beasts......

Krugman always has an agenda, there other graphs on that site he picked from which are normalised for population difference, also US state by state, but they don't suit his message.

You would have thought they would keep as much as possible in reserve for medical staff. General consensus seems to be no major benefits to the uninfected general public

General consensus in a lot of countries would be to wear them. Doesn't seem to be doing much harm in South Korea.

Exactly this very point that most people have been trying to get across. Of little to no benefit unless your sick or your in an at risk group, even then now the majority of at risk are being told to stay inside.

For example I was out for a walk today within 2k and saw someone with a surgical mask pull the mask down and have a smoke, then put the mask back on. Utterly pointless

Meant to help if you're sick. Problem is with this virus, people don't know they are carrying it.
