That Excelsior posted above was the one I always hated the look of. Didn’t know the name.

I'd love to get my hands on her ample nacelles

Picard is getting stung for its copy paste design but that Nebula is atrocious looking. Very lazily thrown together, like they just took the Enterprise and sat on it. :D
The main difference between now and then is having to make a physical model. Some of the TNG models were off the shelf kits put together wrong to make a new ship, there's even a few Star Destroyers among them.

But it really was true and utter ****e.

I don't think Star Trek will ever be Star Trek again.

As Threshold showed evolution isn't necessarily a good thing.

I don't like how the ship looks, but defending the copy and paste design, with the Borg/Dominon War and the Mars attack, Starfleet needed to mass produce new ships so that's probably why they all look the same.

The problem with that is they all look to be about the size of a Sovereign class. If you need to build fleets quickly mostly smaller ships like Akiras and Sabers with some mid size ships like Steamrunners and Norways, and then a few large ships makes much more sense. Another reason being that different sized ships typically perform different roles in a fleet something Star Trek only really did from First Contact onward, but that probably had a lot to do with the move from models to CGI too. If anyone is wondering why I picked those ships they're the new designs used to fill out the fleet in First Contact but still all have very distinct looks.

I really enjoyed that initial battle scene in First Contact where they are showing a mostly new Starfleet lobbing fire onto that Cube. A lot of those new ships really looked like they were built for war, and having Defiant with them seemed to make sense :)

I remember enjoying that scene a lot in the cinema :D

Well, she was built for that exact exact reason.

I love the sense of scale when the Enterprise flew past the Defiant. I know the size of the Defiant was a bit all over the place, but it was the first time you got a real sense of how small and powerful the ship was.

Isn’t it mostly from DS9? The last nigh battle before heading to Cardassia.

    With Runabouts for some reason.

Mayve I've missed it (currently watching Ds9 again) but don't recall seeing any intepids in any of the dominion battles. Run about taking the place of the Peregrine fighters

Don't remember the Sovereign class appearing in DS9 either. Intrepid class was featured in DS9 (USS Bellerophon transporting Romulan delegates) but not in any battle scenes from what I remember.

I'm surprised Sovereign Class didn't feature more in the war. She's streamlined, very heavily armed, and appeared to have been geared for warfare. I get that they might have wanted to keep the Enterprise E away from the frontline (losing her would have been a massiv morale blow), but surely they had a couple more of the class by then (USS Sovereign for example).

Although Voyager has had to fight her way across the Delta Quadrant, I don't get the impression that she was geared to be a warship. Could be that the Intrepid Class ships were limited to support roles during the war (such as that transport job Bellerophon was doing).

As far as I can recall, an Intrepid appeared in only one DS9 episode; the Belepheron, which brought Bashir to Romulus in Season 7.

Of course, there was also the Yeager class, so the class made at least a partial appearance in the background of DS9 :)

In the Thaw Tom said Voyager was built for combat performance.

In general I think they just wanted to keep the Hero ships unique while the other series/movies were still on going. Even the other Defiant class ships in the fleets in DS9 stay in the background. If they had kept the Enterprise D throughout the TNG movies I think we would have seen fewer Galaxy class ships in DS9 too.

    That's my feeling too.

And in-universe, there's nothing to say these classes of ships weren't off in battles elsewhere. The Cardassian border wasn't the only front in the war. After the invasion of Betazed, and the attack on Earth, it wouldn't be surprising if Sovereign class ships were stationed near key Federation homeworlds.

That little Seven/Raffi scene had prior form in TNG ;)

?? Was that really them holding hands?

Reflecting a few weeks later I think the whole Data thing Was confusing? Why did he want to be switched off ? Why wasn't his consciousness transferred?
He suddenly has a human brother? His " father " claimed he had no kids ?
Plus Stewart too old and they just threw away the marriage with Beverly and kid that was written about in the novels. Poor

The guy does a Youtube channel with TNG gag reel clips spliced with scenes from the actual show. If you look more closely at the above clip, you can see that Picard is also wearing slippers ;)

This one is also a good one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgPy2kU9nEk

They wrote it as Data wasn't happy being kept in limbo, never dying, just existing meaninglessly....he wanted to embark on the final exploration of humanity, death.
    Why wasn't his consciousness transferred?

There doesn't seem to be an in-universe explanation, unless I too missed it? (It could have mentioned that it was just a simulation of Data based on memories extracted from B4 & that it wasn't enough to create a sentient copy of Data in the real world, but I don't think they went that route?) I can only guess Spiner wasn't overly keen on recurring as Data very often, & preferred to play the role of the brother, sans makeup etc.
He suddenly has a human brother? His " father " claimed he had no kids ?

Was that specifically stated on screen somewhere?
Plus Stewart too old and they just threw away the marriage with Beverly and kid that was written about in the novels. Poor

I'm not bothered at all by the exclusion of book content, no point getting bogged down in canon/non-canon etc. They're best ignored imo, they've always been largely weak.

I am more fascinated that your auto correct put in Sinn Fein for Simpsons :pac: I mean they both ave some good laugh out loud TV moments, but still.

It was deliberate ;) Not sure what % of the membership base of that Simpsons fan group are Ógra Sinn Féin but the ones that are are extremely vocal. Nearly every second meme has some republican slant to it, not to mention the swarm that descends if someone goes against the nationalist socialist consensus.

Always been a massive fan of the Mr Plinkett reviews but that is just unwatchable crap, as in not a single laugh, just rambling boring gibberish.

Looks like everything modern Star Trek touches just turns to sh1t.

I watched it yesterday and thought it was a pretty standard Plinkett review with a couple of factual errors.

I like RLM and subscribe to their channel, but there's no way I'm watching an hour and a half diatribe. Who has time for that?

Because you have it on while doing something else like painting, cooking, cleaning, or World of Warships in my case.

Neither would I usually but the Mr Plinkett reviews have always been worth making an exception for, the way they absolutely nailed George Lucas and everyone else was totally unique, this is just so bad its a shock. Mike and Rich bitching about the individual episodes was hilarious though.

The last couple of Plinketts weren't great either, so if it's as bad as you say, it's possible the RLM crew have just lost interest or motivation. IMO the channel has kinda moved beyond Plinkett, nor does he even feature in their "Half in the Bag" series anymore.

I'm half way through it. It's quite comprehensive, maybe overly so. But it's vocalising the problems with the series quite well.

I actually find their best of the worst series to be their best!

    I just finished this episode.

I really enjoyed the show but this episodes was filled with things that didn't make sense and the "twist" was no twist at all -it was obvious from the moment the golem was shown that Picard would end up in it. What I cannot figure out is what is the point of that?

Picard's illness had very little presence in the show until the battle. And why make him an android if he is not going to have android powers and just going to carry on being the same? Why even give him the illness at all?

Picard himself just shrugged the whole thing off.

    It was just nonsense.

Raffi and Seven's romance could have been left for season 2 instead of some rushed moment of holding hands. They hadn't even had scenes together in past episodes.

However at least the fact that the limitations on the body mean the android thing can just be ignored in the future.

Harry Treadaway's character just disappeared after he was grabbed by the Synths. And why did he lie to the sister about what he doing with the grenades? Seems like she'd be all for taking out the beacon to stop more powerful machines showing up.

And why did bad Soji let him go?

The story itself was great just some problem and Riker leading cavalry was unexpected (I had not seen Frakes in the opening credits) and glorious. There was too many ships on both sides and it is a pity there wasn't a few moments of a battle but good stuff anyway.
