There is 5 hours of excellent David Bowie documentarage on BBC2 tomorrow night, nothing new but well worth a look

It clashes with 3 hours of Euro 88 reminiscences on RTE2 (the one where we bet England)

You wait years for Bowie night and Euro 88 night and then they come along at once :pac:

Is it fair to say that the "Best of" Late Lates never have any of the

"And you were sitting in the hospital having just being dignosed with cancer, and what happened?"

    "My phone rang..."

"Your phone rang. And who was it?"

    "It was the Guards"

    "What did they say?"

"They said my whole family had been killed in a car crash."

"And they were just on their way home from a sexual abuse hearing, is that right?"

"No, that was the day before. They were on their way to my sister's funeral, her whole family were killed in a house fire a few days before that."

"And how did all that make you feel?"

    "Oh, I was devastated..."

    "Go on..."

    "Total devastation..."

    "Go on..."

    "*cries*"

"Coming up after the break, Tommy Fleming and the bloke who sings that "Bring him home" song from Les Mis!"

types of interviews that make up most of the season.

Personally, I would have put Love/Hate in the better slot (as it hasn't been repeated in ages) but those schedulers who put it on at a graveyard time after an repeat of a Brendan Grace LLS tribute which was just a load of old clips obviously know what they are doing.

RTE have heard you. Season 2 of Love/Hate moves to Monday nights at 10.10pm on RTE One from July 6th.

    rewatching Shameless on Netflix

first 7 seasons were great but the arse really fell out of that show near the end
Loved the Mcguires when they first came into it but they ruined them over the series. Mimi marrying a teenager etc

Do yis remember that Irish woman who turned up on the Late Late (twice, I think) on the strength of the fact that she's editor of one of those American fashion magazines?

There seems to be a documentary about her on RTE this week.

Doesn't that seem a bit weird? Like isn't that really just an ad for her and her career?

Want to know what it's called?

Fearless: The Samantha whatever her name is story.

Fearless! I hope she did some time as a firefighter or something to deserve that title for the programme. I suppose it's more appropriate than some other words. For example "Modest".

(It is possible, of course, that these are two seperate Irish ladies who work for fashion magazines, which they might be. I don't care enough to check.)

They are still running adverts for this show, even though it was on weeks ago.

I think I might have worked out what the 'fearless' title is meant to be ...

It could be fearless, but fear as in man in Irish. Like 'man-less' or something

She don't need no man, she's got to the top on her own.

    You go girl etc

BBC2 are repeating the 2014 Toby Jones TV movie 'Marvellous' on Wednesday at 9pm

    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3659786/
    https://www.tvguide.co.uk/detail/2019870/28588878/marvellous

I couldn't find a trailer for it, but I thought it was great first time I watched. Very enjoyable feelgood film about Stoke City's kitman Neil Baldwin. Shades of Forrest Gump but all true and lots to enjoy
Toby Jones takes the lead role in this feature-length fact-based comedy drama from writer Peter Bowker (Occupation, Eric and Ernie), inspired by the life of Neil Baldwin. Although he was diagnosed as having learning difficulties, Neil has constantly confounded people's expectations during a colourful career that has seen him work as a circus clown and a kit man for Stoke City, and recently led to him being awarded an honorary degree by Keele University in recognition of his contributions to campus life. Just as Neil doesn't like to be labelled, the drama also mixes biopic, musical and fantasy elements to tell this unique story. Gemma Jones, Tony Curran and Nicholas Gleaves also star, while Gary Lineker appears as himself

It's a film you might have missed that pretty much everyone who has watched it enjoyed

Watching the World Cup 94 nostalgia fest on RTE, about the famous Aldridge incident George Hamilton said:

"The man in the yellow hat should exist nowhere in the firmament of international football"

    What a way with words.

Yeah, the BBC have had a terrific line up all weekend

    Great viewing.

This Bowie set is brilliant (BBC2 now) - first time it has ever been shown in full.

A BBC series from the early 70's Colditz is easy enough to find on YouTube, there are 2 episodes missing but they are on daily motion. In this one if you spin to 16:40 I spotted a well known Irish actor, didn't twig it straight away

No, to be honest at this stage I only pop in for the thread chat. The LLS itself is not something I yearn for.

If we could get a crowd to join in a thread to take the piss out of Graham Norton Show or Gardener's World or Murder, She Wrote or anything else I would be equally as content.

Well, yeah, I mean when I say Late Late, I mean Late Late + thread.

If there were no thread, I'd probably be as likely to be found staring at a blank telly as watching Ryan and Saoirse or whoever.

If anyone ever starts a MSW thread, by the way, I'd totally be the second poster in it.

There's a film on RTE on Wed called The Snowman (not that one).

It's so bad it's real, real good.

There's a How Did This Get Made? about it. Watch the film first, the listen to the podcast.

That's my recommendation of the week.

Tubs is back on Sunday July 19th at 6.30pm with the Best of the Toy Show (an hour long compilation of musical bits)

Might be one to tape for the kids, as they will have lyrics on screen so you can singalong

Ryan Tubridy presents some of the best Late Late Toy Show musical performances in recent years, with the lyrics appearing across the screen so viewers can join in. The host also reveals his favourite opening number of all time, from a selection including The Little Mermaid (2017), Beauty and the Beast (2015), Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (2010), Mary Poppins (2013), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (2014), The Jungle Book (2016), The Greatest Showman (2018) and Frozen 2 (2019)

Wowzers, it's like good film overload tonight.

Jaws on RTE2, starring Robert Shaw, From Russia With Love on ITV, starring Robert Shaw, and City Slickers 2 on ITV4, starring some people that aren't Robert Shaw.

It'll be MOTD for me, though.

The one with Mr Bean and Kenneth Branagh and things like that

The best bit of that show was when they showed a brief glimpse of Noel Mannion's try against Wales in 1989
