My 6 year old is forever asking me questions

what number is after a trillion?
    where do clouds come from?
where was sonic the hedgehog born?
how tall is godzilla etc etc

is Alexa somewhat capable of answering these type questions or does it only do very specific things like tell you the weather etc

It works for some things but I find it a bit hit and miss. Google Home Mini might be better, as I find Google as a Voice Assistant much better for that type of stuff.

    Quadrillion
    Warm air rises......continues to explain...
    Nebraska!
108.2m tall according to the movie

So yes, Alexa can answer them.
Are they correct, I’ll let you cross check with google :)

Another q. Does Alexa need to be plugged in all the time to the mains or can it work off a battery?

    They're wrong.

    One trillion and one
Clouds form because water droplets evaporate and come together at the cooler temperatures in the atmosphere before they get too heavy and fall as rain
Sonic the hedgehog is a cartoon character and they're not born, they're invented
And a child would do better with a scale reference, bigger than X building

I don't really understand why you couldn't oblige your child by answering these questions.

It’s just to get him in to tech also and get used to it. No probs answering him but these days he comes in and asks me during work conf calls etc.
So just another option for him if I’m busy.

I asked Alexa if you had a chip on your shoulder. She said yes.

I find my kids listening to a lot more music now since we got it.
They ask Alexa to play theme songs from movies they like, ads the see on the tv etc they are 8 & 4.

I'd be more inclined to suggest that you have some respect for and engage with your son in a human and meaningful way and appriciate and encourage his curious and inquisitive mind rather than look for options to fob him off with an electronic device.

They are not silly questions. It is a 6 year old child trying to understand and learn about the world in which they live.
