Men in boiler suits are calling to homes in Kerry, pretending to be from the HSE and offering fumigation services, gardaí have warned.

In another alleged instance a smartly dressed man accompanied by a worker in protective gear is knocking on doors saying he is being sent to check insulation.

Four males wearing boiler suits called in a van to houses in Farranfore and Killarney area over recent days offering to fumigate the house against Covid -19. The HSE were not sending fumigators, gardaí said.

It's not clear if something was stolen, but for people to even try to exploit the vulnerable should mean at least double jail time during the pandemic.

I've changed the title (adding "Criminals") as this could be a place to share examples of any criminal activity and hopefully alert posters to possible scams out there

Probably have the boiler suits from the old tarmaca and roofing 'jobs'

I certainly hope that these extra Garda patrols can catch up to these "gentlemen".

By the way, I have seen a way more Garda cars driving around ...... which is very good .......... and it should really be the norm and not just for a deadly pandemic.

An Post have said on their website that any text messages asking people to give financial details for apparent 'overdue payments' for mail packages is a scam.

Other companies are said to be known to be hit by this scam.

    More details here.
