Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

You quoted me so that's why I responded.

You obviously have an issue with the integrity of the people running these draws, others here have posted positive experiences.

What they are doing is not brain surgery or cloak and dagger, it's a proven business model being run on a professional level.

Offer a prize that costs less than the total amount of tickets projected to sell, honour the agreement and repeat. Obviously they have researched the demographic most likely to purchase the tickets and what they can afford to pay without missing it for a chance to win a life changing prize.

It's pretty much the same as what the Irish governments have done since they started the Lotto draws, people actually win those too. I know 3 people that won the lotto.

My cousin won a 2020 Audi A6 Sline from Ooosh. Deffo not rigged.

It genuinely sounds like the issue is in your head.

Its interesting how popular these rafles are with rural population compared to urban which is clearly the case looking at the offerings, tractors etc. Why are our rural young people so addicted to gambling I wonder, it's concerning tbh

These raffles seemed to gain momentum during COVID lockdown when there was very little else to spend money on, with a whole new cohort of people drawn into gambling who wouldn't dream of backing a horse or football betting etc.

This form of gambling is targeting rural people and it's very noticeable but if you think young urban dwellers aren't also gambling your mistaken, online casino's are becoming a serious issue

I would occasionally take a punt on some of r kings draws based on the number of tickets for sale/sold

Only once a month or less I would buy

I won a 3 nights in venice and 4 nights cruise out of venice last year on r kings

    i bought 2 tickets @ £4.99 E.A, and 800 tickets were on sale

It was arranged through a travel agency in the north had a choice of 2 departure dates,

Went in april we met around another 4 couples on our trip that won with them we also shared a taxi with one of them out of airport,

I was away in gran canaria last September when a english number rang me and said na not answering that,

2 minutes later a whats app came in from them saying I'd won a price on r kings to contact them,

My sister also won a cruise 2 years ago and her fella won a vintage land-rover about 4 years ago also on r kings,

Also know a couple that won 50k last year again on r kings

I dont think there a scam but just take a close look at the odds of winning the cost and if it's worth a gamble, and in moderation also

lI wouldn't bother with the draws that have 100000 tickets on sale for 1.99 as odds are against you I feel,

And suddenly a load of people rush to the thread with multiple examples to defend a private company. You don’t see that too often….

These companies are all located in the UK where setting up a new company has zero oversight. These raffles wouldn’t be able to get a bank account in ROI. Financial and AML regulations are much more lax there.
    They aggressively market into ROI.
As for the comparison with the Lotto, their draws and business are audited by external auditors. Some random balls rolling out of a machine decide a winner.
Someone sitting at a computer reading a list of entries decides who wins these competitions.
This is all stuff so obvious I didn’t think I needed to point it out.
Spend your money however you want but you’re dreaming if you think these raffles are legit.

I don't think Rkings are rigged to be honest.

You could read that two ways. 🤣

I don't get the hate that these things get. I s a simple business model that doesn't benefit from being rigged.

If you add up the value of tickets sold for each prize you'll see that it's far higher than it's actual value. Take out costs for staff & advertising and you've got a decent amount left.

You see or hear of people winning due to the odds being much lower than the likes of the Lotto...

does anyone know how much people are spending, and people who aren't winning?

It's hard for people to say its not great to be buying all these tickets when you are the one buying the lots of tickets, its a psychological thing, you can't feel good doing something you know isn't great so you'll look for evidence that its good or not so bad. My dad was smoking until age 72, he 'd say look at misses o reilly she's 90 and smokes, and ignore his own mother was a smoker and died of lung cancer which is quite a rare form of cancer if you don't smoke.

People are probably telling you the happy stories, people are less likely to say or notice, I'm addicted to buying these ticket and have won nothing. That's not a story we want to share ourselves if it is us, or as a pal who knows someone like that if we ourselves are buying lots of tickets.

    I don't think its a scam.

My pal won a car, probably bought for 35, polished up said worth 60 down south, it was NI reg, they came out with car, car he'd never be able to drive here huge engine etc, price to put it on irish plates, they offered him 25 cash, he took it, car gone , all in 10 mins. Nothing illegal just not all quite what people might believe. This pa lsaid he got addicted to buying the tickets.

Lotto has higher odds, less to enter, and far bigger potential gains, plus it is very regulated.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,873 ✭✭✭djan

From a brief look lotto has much lower odds and entry price varies depending on prize.

While it is regulated, there has been some dodgy goings on a while back. The good thing Lotto has that it funds some community projects so basically you're giving money to charity when you play :)

Lucky day promotes drifting, I love drifting. But then I never bought one of these tickets.

Lucky day.. look at a item today it will show tickets left/sold..

If you look at it in say 5-10 days the ticket left/sold can be totally different, so that looks a little off🤔.

They do live draws, lists all entries in a spreadsheet and uses Google number generator to pick the winning number, they sometimes press the Google generator a few times before actual draw(not sure why🤔🤔), it's seems legit but don't know anyone who actually won.
