I see that you posted the poll results from 15th Feb.
A week later the results are very different It's gone from 9% to 31% sying the restrictions are too extreme. Next week it will be more again

They are the Irish equivalent to some elements of Trump/QAnon supporters.

It would be interesting to see boards.ie posting stats during the protests.

I reckon there were a few of the usual anti-lockdown suspects taking part in the oul' "peaceful protest" rather than posting on here.

I didn't know the Guard was taken to hospital

But then again, he was attacked by a scumbag wielding a home-made rocket launcher

Using a poll of 2,200 is about as useless a metric as you can get. https://www.irishtimes.com/news/politics/covid-19-irish-times-poll-finds-government-losing-the-dressing-room-as-support-slumps-1.4494806?mode=amp

It's pretty clear to me that the government and NPHET have lost majority support. There will always be a few people who will blindly accept what they are being told but people are starting to realise that we are on a road to nowhere, that the vaccine is not a silver bullet and that the Coronavirus will continue to mutate well into the future possibly rendering the current vaccines useless.

The government and NPHET's plan is to wait and see how the vaccine rollout goes but if they keep up the same negative, public-shaming messaging then there will be a lot more protests at the end of Spring and into the Summer.

That one is an absolute lunatic. She used to be a traffic warden in bundoran but was fired. Lost the plot then. Started stalking and harassing council staff, had a restraining order taken out against her. Absolutely bat **** crazy.

was she one of the Shell to Sea loonies too?

Just leaving this here for the muppets who are claiming the firework moment was an isolated incident of a overall peaceful protest.

Hope Ewan McKenna, Colm Parkinson and Niall Boylan are proud of the nonsense they endorsed helping create today's scenes.

The issues is that these anti-vaxxers, anti maskers and anti-lockdown fools are putting the rest of society in danger by spreading the virus.

The issue is sick people spread the virus, if you feel perfectly healthy your little or no threat to anyone.
No restrictions on healthy people the WHO are blue in face from telling the Irish.
The only fools are the ones not staying at home when they have any symptoms and the ones identifying as potentially sick when they're healthy.

Last weekend the garda who spoke to the Irish times said big potentially dangerous gatherings in phoenix park although majority within their 5km limit, expect policing of civil amenities around the country next week.

Can I expect riot police when I want to walk my dog in co cork next weekend?

Absolute nonsense, be interesting to see the breakdown of fines from this weekend.

Yup. She's anti-everything, anti-vax, covid is a hoax, elites are paedos, loves Gemma and Waters, courts are unconstitutional etc. Nasty piece of work.

Thinking about this some more - why we’re the guards standing off against the protesters with dogs and batons anyway? Were they guarding the park? If so, why?

Looks like a day out for "heads" from Oliver Bond, Dolphins Barn, Finglas and similar kips

It's all down to "social issues" in these areas of course

Today wasn't a protest. It was scumbags being scumbags

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,395 ✭✭✭GazzaL

All the SME business owners, all the self employed, they're all scumbags for wanting to work and earn a living to provide for themselves and their families.

    Why do you think?
Gardai tend to know more than you think they do!

WTF has that got to do with today?

Today's protestors had none/very,very little of the kind of people you just described

It was a day out for scumbags who were scumbags before Covid and they'll still be scumbags next year when things are miles better

Do you think it was SME business owners protesting today? Or aiming fireworks at the Gardai?
