This is the reason given in the Garda statement.

These arrests occurred in Kildare, Kerry and County Cork in respect of persons for failing to comply with Garda directions under section 31(a)(7) Health Act 1947, as amended,” a statement revealed.

You are saying I am assuming something but at the same time making your own assumptions while disregarding the statement from ags.

    From garda.ie

"In respect of regulations which are declared to be Penal Regulations under the Health Act 1947 as amended, An Garda Síochána adopts the approach of the Four Es which sees Gardaí engage, educate, encourage, and as a last resort, enforce. Where Gardaí find potential breaches of the public health regulations a file is prepared for the DPP in each case.

While An Garda Síochána will seek to encourage people to maintain the necessary public health measures, it will intervene where there is non-compliance with public health regulations"

    Power of enforcement
What happened to Drew Harris' "Four Es"

Gardai have powers through the back door and exercised them on this occasion but did nothing in leitrim.

    Why not? What's different?

I understand that you need to tow the party line but the rest of us dont.

So that's a no then. You can't. That's fine. No need to continue.

I'm interested in discussion with people that know the subject and I'm interested in learning something new. It's why I might read many threads but don't post. Because I can't offer any insight but I certainly learn.

On this issue, that's you except you consider yourself qualified to tell the professionals that they are wrong. Off to the medical section with ya.

Yes your a bully when you get challenged.
I am not supposed to know, its not my job.

The toys have been thrown from the garda livery emblazoned pram.

There is another protest on st Patrick's day. I'm sure those manning the ring of the checkpoints approaching Dublin wont be making up their own set of rules and arresting people for refusing to turn back.

When you can produce the evidence we shall discuss further

To be fair I don't think either of us are too bothered by what the other is writing.
Both sets of heels are well dug in but nobody is overly upset.

    Not really.

Wednesday's planned protest and garda counter strategy is coming though so we might revisit

I do not think Gardai want to have dozens of Gardai giving evidence.
Then there be the video stuff and unlikely conviction considering the
over-use of force on one woman...

What video stuff? Do you know how court operates? You dont just download a youtube video as evidence ffs!

Have you now decided that the use of force was not reasonable? Based on what expertice / training / experience? Are you a member of GSOC?

Gardai attend court every single day for trials. There need not be every single Garda present. The state doesnt have to produce them all, they can produce the main 5 or 6 and thats enough.

Of course the bloody trial will go ahead. Really, one of the worst opinions I have encountered outside of a Freeman

The lead car will have been designated the co-ordinator of the pursuit, it's these Gardai that will give evidence of her driving.

You haven't a clue, just stop.

    Speach? No

Speech? Yes, and you're using it to peddle ridiculous claims without any basis in fact.

Only time will tell if she convicted of anything.

Getting convictions isn't the issue, the problem is actually making people carry out any sort of sentence.

Would this be prison time offence?
I doubt it even if convicted...

It depends on the offences she is charged with.

Depends on her previous if any, If she gets locked up she will get Temporary Release quickly as we don't have much space in the women's prisons.

I wasn't speculating about the likely outcome just pointing out that the availability of a jail term in sentencing depends on the charge.

Of course all relevant factors will be considered by the justice.

Why do you keep downplaying it. It wasn't some 12 year old kicking his football into his neighbours yard.

She's been charged with dangerous driving so far which does carry possible prison and more charged may be preferred when she gets to court
