In the greater scheme of things. 27 year old messes up, is embarrassed in front of her peers, decided to address issues and is publicly humiliated.

Poor judgement but she was not corrupt, did not drink and drive, did not beat up a member of the public, did not squash penalty points, did not cook the books etc etc.

She will be let go, I would imagine.

Judge said she'd be held go higher standards than the public.
I'm not convinced that's fairness from the law. She'll be hung out to dry and loose her job.

Pity she wasn't a traveller ignoring a court order. A fine and told to be good.

I see lots of spar bags and cans, what's that got to do with publicans, I doubt they're selling mutlipacks of cans in spar bags

Other countries also have far more public toilets and do not have a majority of toilets in cities still refusing people entering them.

Not condoning it but like what is going to happen when they have been so slow to open up outdoor hospitality ergo said premises restrooms? So I don't really think this is a civil respect issue. Your idea that we are crazed outdoor pissers and ****ters compared to Europe is laughable. I've been abroad to most of the big cities in Europe and hey-ho, drunk people piss outside a lot there too. If people could use the toilets in the city then the vast majority would (at least women, men are pretty G to piss anywhere and that is a worldwide thing).

There are thousands of portaloos lying idle due to the lack of festivals and outdoor events taking place. Dublin City Council could provide toilet and other facilities if they wanted to.

I'm not suggesting they should be provided for crowds but I think the pandemic has shown the lack of facilities in general around the city when bars, cafes etc are closed.

There's hardly anywhere to even sit down in the city centre.

I think the rubbish situation is pretty heavily tied to the policing situation.

When the public order unit clears an area, they basically sweep it. 10-12 Gardai will walk the length of the street, and everyone will be forced to leave. A lot of those people leave in a hurry, I guess some are under age, others are just afraid. Some people aren't cleaning up because they aren't leaving on their own terms.

So what's the excuse when the police don't clear the area?
Considering that the police hardly ever clear an area like this, the place should be spotless!

The police clear that whole area between Dame, Grafton, Georges and Aungier St every single night.

I was there on a lightly drizzling Monday night about three weeks ago. I'd say there were about 40 people in small groups scattered between Drury, Wicklow, S William St. At about 10pm the Public Order Unit showed up and forced everyone to leave.

I live by the grand canal - at the barge. The public order unit clear that area like clockwork.

They're not in the wrong. They're usually not all that aggressive. I've seen them pouring out people's drinks, but I have also experienced A Guard walking over to us recently and quietly saying "listen, a resident complained, I have to be seen to be doing something - so will you guys head off for a few minutes and come back later". So there is definitely a spectrum they operate in that is somewhat reactive to what they face.

I am just saying that a lot of the rubbish we see is a result of people leaving in a hurry.

The answer to the issue of young people drinking en-masse outdoors where they were told by Holohan/NPHET was safe, is not for the council to provide more outdoor loos, not to provide more bins or indeed more outdoor areas so people can socialise...

Nope, it's to send in more Gardai and fence off areas where people (safely) congregate outdoors... but it's ok, the riot squad will have "flat caps" on and not full riot gear.. phewww! Maybe the Garda Dogs will wear muzzles this time too?

We're experts at doing things a**ways in this country...

There’s a guard in Cork who went around sniffing peoples drinks at The Lough to see if there was alcohol in them. Our police force is embarrassing.

I wish people would pick a lane, no wonder nothing ever gets done about a problem. Clearly enforcement is the issue, but when any enforcement action is taken people sperg out about 'The Man' ruining our fun. In Oireland, enforcement is always something that needs to be appied to the other guy.
