What hardware stores are open

    Hi guys,

    I know for sure that Woodies is closed.

    Anyone got any idea where might be open.

    I have a few jobs need doing around the house so need to pick up a few essentials.

    None as they aren't allowed to be.

    If a shop had supplies in it that may be an option.

    Range is probably your best bet, B&Q and Homebase are closed

    People have gone mad buying paint, it seems.
    Not ideal weather for it.

    You can indeed but it's a little bit chilly for that also. Painting should be done in warm, naturally ventilated conditions without a central heating system running to achieve best results. My own opinion based on personal experience but I'm no expert.

    My brothers house got painted in late October/early November without electricity initially and heating at all. It turned out fine. If you couldn't paint unless you had summer weather no professional painters would be in business.

    Maybe not ideal but in Ireland we seldom get extreme weather, last week was as good as you'd get for outdoor painting once you weren't paining too early and late in the day then it's fine

    Internal conditions in any normal house at this time of the year are close to ideal for painting

    Edit - I just rang them to order vegetable plants and they're only trading in essentials

    Thanks all,
    yeah I passed thee today and there were huge queues. Will hit it tomorrow morning first thing.

    We have to be moved into a house and out of this apartment by the end of the month, and with no movers/handymen available, have to do a lot myself!
