Yeah, had heard that there will be stricter rules coming too.

Apart from withdrawing the 2km - what else are they likely to do ?

All house doors to be welded. Army to deliver porridge and bread to house for 2 weeks. Each household to receive a bottle of whiskey per week also. If that doesn't work, government to consider chaining citizens to their bed for a fortnight.

    From RTE feed.
The number of confirmed cases of the new coronavirus in the Netherlands has risen by 952, or 5.3%, to 18,803, health authorities said, with 101 new deaths.

These covid threads used to be informative enough, now they seem to be mostly a place to be snide and snarky. It is a pity, as I am sure it could be a good place to share information on a serious situation that we need to know more about.
Is there a better thread on boards in the covid forum that people could direct me towards. This one is irritating.

Yup followed it up in a later post. It's a model we should follow when the time comes
Seems fairly balanced, provided the metrics for triggering easing remain favourable.

But they have been marching the queens highways for 400 years? Surely god would protect them.

Agreed. Doesn't belong on this tread!
Well, I thought I should reply as the poster sounded a bit deflated.

Apparently none of the antibody tests the UK ordered, work.

It will be compulsory for men to only shave one side of their face. Women can shave the whole thing.

Refunds due for private health insurance in this country surely?

In Poland they have an app where police request can request you to take a selfie to confirm you are indeed at home.
And in Austria I think they are using GSM signals to track if people pass distance boundaries.
Keep an eye on the restrictions a cross the world.

In the Philippines they will shoot you on site if you go against quarantine, but that didn't surprise me.

There won't be much information going forward though, daily numbers then see what the trend is like.

They can't do much more by way of restrictions, most information is now out there.

Daily Mail is reporting that Boris is receiving “oxygen treatment” - which somewhat kind of confirms the “ventilator” Russian headlines from last night.

Pinch of salt required with these sources of course.

Knowing them, there'll be a price increase.

Oxygen treatment might just be a small tube resting on his nose:

Have you thought this through old merv?
Have you actually tried welding a pvc door before?
Is it a mig or tiggy weld for the old pvc?
Also can the same army up their delivery of tin foil hats?

  • Registered Users Posts: 445 ✭✭iwillyeah1234

Well that IS curious. The Mail have just changed the headline. Removing “oxygen treatment”.

( furious phone calls from No 10??? )

But big differences in seriousness between occasional face mask relief, CPAP, and intube ventilator support.

Yeah massive difference between "oxygen treatment" and being put on a ventilator.

I have no doubt that the Daily Mail, being such a responsible bastion of fine journalism, made that very clear?

"Most information" is NOT out there now. It is very early days in the research of this disease. Treatments, susceptibility, vaccines, mutations, etc., true numbers including R0 and rates of death and serious infection per actual infection. We need all this. And it takes time. You are one of the posters being incredibly blasè as if you have some inside track or superior knowledge and detachment. Unless you are a highly qualified medical person who has been immersed in research and / or direct hands on experience of Covid 19 you do not have any superior knowledge that makes your casual attitude in any way justifiable.

    However there is something afoot:

The PM's spokesman declined to say whether he had pneumonia, although they dismissed claims emanating from Russia that he is on a ventilator as 'disinformation'.

Asked if symptoms are 'mild' - the word previously used to describe them - the spokesman instead said they were 'persistent' and included a 'a temperature and a cough'.

I don't believe this. A sizable portion of the population are following the guidelines.

We do already have restrictions and I can't see what they can do to tighten them restrictions more bar an extension to the current guidelines and possibly fines for anyone breaking the guidelines.

Wuhan was able to trace early cases of this to a wet market in Wuhan.

Do we have similar tracing here? As in do we have much community transmission still occurring? Where are them transmissions occurring? Aside from giving us east, south, west of the country - are the authorities able to trace and determine where exactly transmissions are occurring?

Rumours of further restrictions are just a pack of bullsh1t and serves no good and will lead to panic.

See the army is having a larger role. This is good as they have far more experience in coordinating, planning and command and control in time critical emergencies. I know the response to date has been in support of the civilian authorities. They should be coordinating the civilian authorities though. We have extremely limited resources and should be used to greatest effect. No place for politics or spin when dealing with this emergency.

I don't know what exactly operation fortitude entails but it's a positive.
