Figures from America looking very positive at the moment.

Figures down to about half of peak, deaths trending down, hospitalizations trending down.

With the most profound falls being in population dense States like California and Texas.

What figures are you looking at? Numbers are still going up across the board. They'll probably clock over 200,000 deaths in a few days.

And estimated deaths (at the current rate) are over 400,000 by January.

The daily rate of infection is about half for America and about 35 to 40% in several key States, such as California and Texas, when compared to their peaks in July.

With corresponding falls in hospital admission and deaths now following through.

Worldometer or John Hopkins University both have good data and are often referenced here.

What metrics are going down? Cases yeah, but then testing seems to have gone down as well.

Deaths are still uparound 1k per day, which they have been since July.

Trump holding inside rallies and full on WH lawn attended speeches is not going to help, either in the people that attended or the message being sent out.

Schools and colleges are going back, sports are starting up again, and of course they have the upcoming Flu season comboied with the election to worry about.

Given the US response to date, I think it they are very far from even the end of the beginning, never mind the actual end.

Deaths and hospitalizations are down. Ventilator use down, ICU down, 7 day moving for dead average around 740 now, falling daily. Testing show a big fall in positive results, haven't seen the data on tests.

It's looking very positive, as of now.

The death rate is falling everywhere, that's a good thing.

No doubt the only consistency in America is that most people there didn't take it serious.

There will have to be a reversal in fortunes not seen in any country to date to achieve that.

    Every level.

Look at Seattle, 60k people at a BLM protest.

Rich, middle class White America got bored and couldn't stay at home, replicated all over that country.

Unfortunately we are hurtling towards winter.
They never got the situation under control.

Things are going to get very bad.

I'd hardly call rich white middle class American disconnected.

Even in Detroit, BLM protests are majority white and it has a massive, near absolute black majority.

BLM never took off there like other places because it lacked 2 key pillars.

Majority white areas to feed activists and those areas had to be significantly wealthier than average.

Trump playing down the virus is such an awful thing when you see the figures they have.
    Such a shame.

I agree he doesn't seem to phased by anything he does! A selfish guy for sure. And such a selfish response to this pandemic. Nearly 200,000 dead but once he's in with a chance of election in Nov then he'll be happy out.

Testing is down because fewer people getting sick equals less demand. There is no conspiracy to stop testing. My city used the EAS to send out an alert to every phone urging people to get tested, symptoms or not. Is that the actions of a government trying to stifle testing? There are several free testing sites set up. You dont need symtoms to use them. We were doing in excess of 10k tests a day during the peak. Now its around 3000 and the positivity rate is still dropping. If the drop in cases was a function of less testing then that wouldn't be happening. Hospitalisations have also been falling consistently for several weeks. Why cant people accept any positive news?

And obviously, the best way for states to enact that plan was to "urge" hundreds of thousands of people to go get tested. They're all in on it!

Exactly. So the cases actually are declining and its not simply because people can't get tested. Good news!

Apologies I wasn't debating figures. I'm not too up on them. Great news!

So that is all states then that haven't looked at reducing testing levels?

What we have clear data on is a fall in covid patients hospital beds use, ICU use, ventilator use and undertaker use.

    Data from who though?

You think it's all a big conspiracy to hide the dead and hospital bed use.

    You thinking Mossad?

Anything but good news lest it not suit your needs.

Well seeing as the Whitehouse banned the CDC giving out information and its been proven that when the CDC do put out information they have been forced by Trumps people to edit those reports to make him look good i am a bit sceptical when information comes out and I like to know the source for said claims.

Excess deaths were beyond 200k in mid August. The US deaths per million are gonna pass the UK in the next few days. Trying to paint the situation as not a disaster is pretty dishonest. Even with the current drop off, they still have highest daily death numbers of a developed nation. And a surge in numbers again is far from unlikely.

How many times do I have to say it, the numbers are compiled by the states themselves. The cdc have nothing to do with it. Go look at any states dhhs or similar and you will find the numbers.

    For example

    https://nvhealthresponse.nv.gov/
    https://covid19.ca.gov/data-and-tools/

Every state has similar. Now if someone went through each states numbers and compared them to what the cdc is releasing and found discrepancies then there would be evidence that the numbers are being altered. But no one has found any evidence so until then its a conspiracy theory with no basis in fact. New cases, hospitalisations and deaths are all dropping.
