Visually, very easy on the eye for Americans who can’t think critically.

Same old argument. Cases. Big deal. Show us the corresponding charts for overwhelmed ICUs and deaths.

Trump said it would all just go away. He never caveat ed that by saying he only meant cases.

US has 215k+ deaths and growing. Hospitalisation as increasing in many states.

When the numbers do eventually go down it will have nothing to do with Trump admin.

How is the roll out of the 'cure' going? Haven't heard much about the military getting involved yet.

You know the US has one of the best, and by that I mean worst! death per millions in the world. And it is growing everyday.

If senators test positive they can't go vote in the senate and can't rush through a supreme court nomination to screw over poor people.

That is the long and short of it. They have had bills to help the American public that they have sat on for months and months. A chance to screw over their healthcare comes up and they want to take it.

Does anyone else think the US has kinda done okay overall? Their case numbers have been high enough but stable for months, death rates are dropping and life seems to be mostly normal in most states.

Think their deaths per million is too high to be considered "okay overall".

And cases still high as you say, and another 843 died yesterday. When will they actually suppress the virus and get on top of it.

What metric are you basing this 'ok' on? They are in the bottom 10 countries for deaths per millions, they have 25% of total deaths but only 5% of the population.

European covid cases now higher than US on a per capita basis, EU has a ruined economy with little to show for it now. US is returning to normal with the worst behind them.

The US is still experiencing a thousand deaths a day so it's a leap to assume the worst is behind them. Likely to see another increase during flu season.

Southern states are showing us why the worst is behind them, all the virus is doing now is migrating to places it hasn't been.

Data never supported lockdowns long term.

Texas had the most cases yesterday in the US first started getting big numbers around mid June. I don't see data to back up your statement that it wasn't in the states that are bad now for a while.

State didn't just jump to 3% infected overnight. That took a period of mismanagement to do.

I keep seeing people reaching for reasons to think that the worst is behind X and X should go to normal. They keep being wrong and then more people do the same. It is like the reverse of the doomsday people. Eventually they will be right if they keep claiming it is nearly over but that is luck.

Only a few weeks ago it was the line that cases meant nothing, since people were not dying.

Are we back to measuring on cases again?

It is hard to keep up with what metic is being used to qualify Trump's response as great.

reopening- cases will peak after opening likely within six weeks so expect a high case count, need to keep the CFR down so protect high risk groups. Normalisation is happening slowly...then bang all at once, lockdowns don't work. Coronavirus is nearly over.

Luckily there is 50 states who have all taken different approaches. Some states are showing what others can expect...

So is Trump responsible for the good or the bad ones? Surely they should have already learned lessons for the earlier States and got things in place?

Heard someone say all this in March. You are providing no evidence for any of this.

Haven't heard your line of reasoning from any epidemiologist. Certainly Fauci and Birx thought the response was a disaster and neither seems to saying they are out of the woods yet.

I'll trust the subject experts on this one.

The only lesson here is that containment is a failed policy as Europe and UK are about to show us. you will never agree with this. So let's just watch how it plays out..

A failed containment policy is going to fail, there is no doubt about that. South Korea, NZ, they have shown us the way to do it.

It has been shown to work, yet the likes of Europe and US seem to think that they can do it better and/or different. But they continue to fail and continue to ignore what works.

Southern states are showing us how stupid and undereducated they are, and how unwilling to do anything at all to protect anyone from something like this pandemic.
Covid is not showing to where it hasn't been... it's running rampant in areas full of idiots who don't social-distance and don't wear masks.

Whatever, look at the data, look at Florida, they are passed peak, the virus will now have a reduced ability to spread. If you're high risk take precautions. Lockdowns only delayed the inevitable.
Talking about disinformation, look at college campuses now, the hysteria we were listening to a month ago...

What data, what has happened to college campuses? You throw out these lines and what, just expect people to know?

You think US is now passed the worst. Fine, give us the backup for that position.

70000 cases came from college campuses in the first weeks of the college year. There has only been 1 death linked to all those. The number of new cases on campuses is now falling. Thats why you dont hear about it anymore. Here is a link to a page which has collated the covid sites of various colleges that show this. (Yes, its people magazine, I've no idea why they are doing this either)

    https://people.com/health/coronavirus-cases-at-colleges-and-universities-tracker/

Florida has been fully reopen for several weeks and their number of new cases isn't increasing. The number of active cases is decreasing consistently as more people recover. New cases in Arizona have dropped by 75%. Texas has dropped from their peak but holding steady at that lower average. These are the places that had a surge over the hot summer months. I dont think its possible to say that the US as a whole is over the worst, but hopefully some places are.

Really flaring again now in most states over the last week. Over 71,000 new cases yesterday and deaths rising again. Most alarming state is Illinois. Hospitalisations are growing across the board the again.

The US has to get it's track and trace systems in gear. Something Biden has been saying in recent days. Finally someone is saying it other than ignored health professionals by this administration.

    70,000 cases another 928 dead.

New record for cases at over 80k in a day.

Sure people saying the worst is over will eventually be right but I am tired of hearing it at every turn without anything to back it up.

They are braced for the death rate to surge back over 1,000 daily this week. The situation is getting worse in 30 states.
